RRE's vision is to be a one-stop shop for entertainment services, whether audio, visual, or a combination of both using various mediums and state-of-the-industry technology. ABOUT THE OWNER PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT FOR HAWAII’S PATRONS If you’re in the nightclub or entertainment industry in Hawaii, you’ve likely heard of Rudeboy Riddimz Entertainment. Ron “Shango DonRagga” Betts has lived in Hawaii since 1994, arriving courtesy of the United States Army. After serving in the Armed Forces, he worked as a case manager in the Human Services field for many years, while at the same time making moves which would ultimately result in the birth of Rudeboy Riddimz Entertainment, and later, a long and prosperous partnership with IDeliver Entertainment’s Lamar McColor. Shango, as he affectionately known by many, has a long, deep-rooted history in Hawaii’s entertainment industry from performing onstage as a reggae artist for the enjoyment of thousands at the now-defunct Pipeline Café, and more recently the Republik, to DJing for hundreds at independent artist showcases and themed nightclub events all over Oahu. Shango is also an avid promoter, and currently operates Rudeboy Radio 808, a fully-licensed internet radio station with tens of thousands of listeners globally. He is also one of the hosts of the weekly radio show, the Mac and Da Don Show, aired Thursday nights on KPHI 96.7FM, from 9pm HST – 12am HST. Shango’s first endeavors in the entertainment industry in Hawaii began in 2002 when he substituted for the regular DJ at Gussie L’Amours, formerly located adjacent to the Plaza Best Western in Honolulu. Impressed by his skills and his ability to connect with the crowd, the owner offered him a chance to build his own following by putting on weekly dance nights at a smaller club in Wahiawa, HI, then called the Gold Zone. Unfortunately for Shango, this would also be his first lesson in dealing with the corrupting nature of the business. After building a steady patronage of almost 200 people weekly, the owner tried to shortchange Shango, which led to a quick end of the business relationship. Both clubs went out of business shortly therafter. In the time following his Gold Zone days, Shango started his own Mobile DJ services company, Rudeboy Riddimz Entertainment, and began organizing and facilitating events at Panama Hatties, currently Whiskey Dix, in Aiea, HI. Collaborating with groups such as Lucrative Entertainment, Standalone Intertainment, and the Island Hunnies, Shango put on epic shows such as the Ultimate Emcee Challenge, Players Ball, and other shows, averaging crowds of 400+. In 2006, legal troubles forced Shango to take a brief hiatus, until he returned to the nightclub scene in 2009. During that time away from Hawaii’s nightclub scene, Shango’s focus shifted back to his own music. With renewed motivation, he recorded his first mixtape, Shango:RDOH Vol. 1, in late 2007, selling and distributing it the old fashioned way: on the streets. During this time, it was not uncommon to find Shango in Waikiki promoting and selling his mixtape to tourists and locals alike. Shango left the island for a job opportunity shortly thereafter and recorded his first studio album titled “Private Party”. Returning to the island of Oahu in November of 2008, Shango hit the ground running, and soon found himself booked for Mobile DJ gigs well into 2009. It was also at this time that the ownership changed at Panama Hatties. The club re-opened as 4Play. Having to rebuild his following, Shango started out with a Thursday night event, later being offered some Friday and Saturday nights. It was during this time the concept of “Starstruck” came to life. Shango partnered with Lamar Mac of IDeliver Entertainment, and what was projected to last for only 6 months, became a staple event in Hawaii’s hiphop and r’n’b community for 5 years. Building from the Starstruck days, Rudeboy Riddimz Entertainment and IDeliver Entertainment continued to collaborate on different events and endeavors, including several major concerts. Though they have placed much focus on their collaborative radio show during the latter part of 2015 to the present, the partnership still organizes and facilitates nightclub events as well. Ron “Shango DonRagga” Betts brings well over 30 years of performance, DJ, and promoter experience to the table, as well as business experience in dealing with executives, board chairmen and women, etc. His ability to creatively solve problems, or render solutions, is only outmatched by his passion for providing quality entertainment for patrons, and quality services for aspiring artists, including their labels and management.
