The tunnel, so excited to have Trick or Treaters this year
Girls got out on a fresh pasture this morning. They get so excited when they see us walking towards the gate with the greens on the other side. They usually run in like a mad biker gang and eventually settle into a very calm herd of sheer happiness, with heads to the ground looking for the best possible mouthful. It's fantastically relaxing and peaceful to just hang out with them, listening to the munching of grass. These girls live a spoiled and simple life. I envy them every day. Happy 4th!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Moms. Today we are milking the cows (moms) that give so much they get retirement on our farm. Happy Mother's Day to Peanut, Lilly, Abby, Nutella, and Starfish. Love when you milk a mom next to her daughter. We will have to do a post of our cow Family Tree.
We also hardened off all our transplants, about 10,000 we grew from seed. Below is my boring video diary. Most will be available for pick-your-own this Summer as either fresh or to bring home and dry. Looking forward to having you on the farm.
Peanut leading the way
Farming is not lucrative, especially on the small scale we do it. Being the alternative to factory farming is what gives us purpose. In our perfect world, Crown Point would be all small family farms, like it used to be, like our farm used to be.
Edited to share that the dark brown cow in the back is our matriarch, Maya. She rules the herd (her and Peanut who is a whole other story). Maya is our very first cow. I think she is 14 or so and has been retired for years.
