VOW exists to serve engaged and newly married couples through intentional dialogue and applied Family Systems Theory, Hebrew and Christian scriptures. It is the expressed sentiment of VOW that engaged couples will use the months prior to their ceremony as a means not merely to plan a wedding, but to prepare for a marriage. ked a florist, hired a DJ, bought plane tickets for a honeymoon, but you HAVEN"T found a minister who will officiate your ceremony in a personal, sacred and memorable way...you might have skipped a step. And lets face it, isn't your wedding, and for that matter, your marriage, too important to allow a perfect stranger to bungle his or her way through your ceremony after you have called them at the last minute? Happens all the time, and probably because there are too few ministers who make themselves available to officiate the ceremony of anyone who is not a member of their particular church, parish or belief system. VOW would love to offer you assistance in performing your wedding ceremony and planning your marriage.

When they smile during all the best moments in their wedding ceremony, you know they are fully present to each other and what is happening around them. and Tommy I bet are still smiling! It’s easy to have a joyful wedding full@of intention and purpose when the two standing with me are just that, full of joy and purpose and intention. Well done! (And apparently I lost my hand somewhere during the weekend!)

A strong candidate for favorite wedding photo ever . This captures two things, one, the very moment when I, while officiating the vows to Jim asked him to recite “I Jim take you Anna Francis to be my husband.” Now, Jim is one smart dude, and however nervous or not he may have been, he knew precisely whom he was marrying, a wife and NOT a husband. We all laughed, and I was embarrassed at my lack of professional ex*****on of the words of institution. But as is shown, we, none of us, took ourselves too seriously. Two, it shows the relationship between bride and officiant. Me and have some years together, same church for years, youth group leadership hers and mine, that trip the NOLA post Katrina that still defines who we are. In a word, “privilege.” The other thing, and it ain’t small, is the front row to this couple’s marriage. They wisely chose to not have too much, if any, wedding fluff. In a day where there is an overt concentration on things that matter not to a marriage, this wedding was sweet, not because of the styling, but because of the primacy of the two people who decided to do life together. Well done!

It’s not often I get to feel smaller than my company...Hanging with the Jaguars third pick at the George Jones Museum in downtown Nashville, 6'8" 350 lbs out of Pincushion SC, Mason "Jar" Jones. Really great fella.

Every now and then a storm or dry season blows through, but its worth the effort to grow, shade and shelter forthcoming.
