Longworth Gin
Located halfway between Sweetwater and Roby, Texas, the Longworth Gin has been a well-known landmark sitting on top of a hill at the intersection of Highway 70 and FM 57. Opening in the fall of 1973, it served local farmers until ginning its last bale of cotton in 2007.
The gin was in the Coker family during its years of operation. Many members of this family worked at the gin all 34 years. This family business was bought by a cooperative in the year 2007, when it began a new chapter in Roby, Texas. The newly established Longworth Gin Coop is still operating to this day.
After sitting vacant for many years, the Coker family is establishing new roots at the Longworth Gin. As a new, upcoming wedding and event center, we look forward to providing a unique venue where guests have an unforgettable experience. Surrounded by cotton fields and cattle, you will be sure to feel our West Texas charm.
