💡 Did you know that there is a difference between the term, preserved flowers and dried flowers?
Well there is!!
👉 So really, preserved is a general or main term for any process of floral preservation but in the floral world today there is one method of preserving that is strictly labeled preserved. That is a method of preserving with glycerin and typically a dye is added as well. Its definitely a process!
🌺 You know those wedding bouquets I post that have lush greens in them that look so fresh, well that is preserved greens (mainly eucalyptus varieties). Some of the flowes too (typically roses).
🫶Glycerin preserves flowers by replacing the plant's natural moisture with a humectant, which helps maintain their flexibility and color, effectively preventing them from drying out and becoming brittle
🌼 Dried Flowers are naturally air dried. Nothing added. Two different looks 💐.
💡 Then you got pressed flowers, flowers preserved with silica gel, freeze dried flowers which I know nothing about but very intrigued 😅. Oh and you got sola wood flowers which are not real at all but they are made with tapioca wood and come in soooo many varieties of flowers so they are a perfect option for that “fresh looking” flower in bouquets and arrangements.
💐 Here are just a few examples of dried, preserved and sola flowers. Can you tell what is what? Some may be mixed!
