Happy Father’s Day everyone!
Did you know that the first Father's Day celebration originated from a tragedy in West Virginia?
In 1908, the Monongah Mine Disaster claimed the lives of 362 men, many of whom were fathers. Grace Golden Clayton suggested a service in Fairmont, West Virginia, to honor them. Although it didn't become an annual event immediately, this commemoration laid the foundation for Father's Day as a national holiday in the U.S. Now, over a hundred years since it started in 1924, we celebrate and recognize the invaluable role of fathers in our lives.
