I’ve been a member of this amazing organization for the past three years. They are the warmest, most loving and community-minded people you will ever meet. This is their latest status:

The past 12 months, we lost 12% of our donor base for economic reasons around job loss and inflation. It has been a hard year for folks in our community.

Grants are secure (yay!) but if we can’t pay the staff to run the organization, we are in trouble. Rest assured, on our end, we are making every possible incremental cut, including voluntary payroll reductions.

A very generous donor offered to match all new monthly giving, new bumped up monthly giving, and new one-time donations up to $12,000! If we receive $12,000 in new monthly donations for the next 10 months, plus the match for an 11th month, we will be at $156,000 or 91% of our goal!

Who needs a website anymore? Streamlining my business and minimizing the hassle and cost of maintaining a website for my floral design company. I’m still doing event work (and loving it), but I’m working through how to combine my work as a psychologist and my love of flowers into something that could help people and bring them some relief from stress and anxiety in everyday life. Vibrant marigolds are the October flower. They have deep cultural roots in rituals such as “Dia de los Muertos,” and in Asian cultures, they are a sign of prosperity and good fortune. In general, they symbolize warmth and spirituality.

I don’t have a green thumb (shocking, right?), but I know how to arrange flowers once they are harvested! If you’re like me, you can buy them at your local nursery instead of starting from seed, or buy from a local farm.

Marigolds are the perfect addition to Fall wedding bouquets (like this one made for ) and will be the highlight of your celebration or ritual.

By the way, I wasn’t allowed to play with Barbies as a kid. My mother thought they promoted unhealthy feminine stereotypes (I get it). Of course I went to my friends’ houses and played with them there 🤣 . The Barbie world was a huge part of my childhood and imaginative play. By the time my own kids were old enough to play with Barbies, they came in all shapes, sizes, colors, and careers.

Happy 4th, Y’all! Im not gonna lie…feeling a little sad and disappointed this year. I’m going to try to focus on gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities we’ve been granted in this country, and pray that these same freedoms will be granted equally to everyone, and that all beings will be healthy, happy, and live in peace.

My first actual flower started from seed! Believe it or not, I do not have a green thumb (and my father was a botanist!). has some fertile soil so just about anything grows here. Spending the summer enjoying the garden, the sun, and family. But I’ll still be checking DM’s and emails for Fall/Spring wedding consults. Enjoy! 🌻

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! These are a few of my favorite things that help me to self-soothe:
1. Meditation (even 10 minutes helps!
2. Daily morning yoga practice ( Find What Feels Good is amazing!)
3. Enjoying nature, playing with flowers
4. My pets - they know how to live in the moment!
5. A cup of coffee or tea
6. Reading novels or self-help books (currently reading “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett and “The Way of Integrity” by Martha Beck)
7. Exercise- walking, gym, kayaking
8. Binge-watching Gilmore Girls for the 15th time

When these things don’t work to cure a bad mood or mindset, and sometimes they don’t, then calling a friend or family member is so helpful. It’s ok to ask for help, and to seek therapy if you need more tools. We’re all in this together.
