Dear followers,
Since 1973 American citizens have had the right to privacy. Privacy in their healthcare choices, their marriages, their s*x lives, with whom they choose to live with (yes I’m talking roommates or more)… ALL OF THIS and MORE is in jeopardy if SCOTUS rules away the protections of Roe v Wade. It goes without saying that of course I stand for women’s rights, and I firmly believe that abortion is healthcare. I have no right to stand in the way of anyone else’s choice when the stakes are so high. But it’s so much worse than that. The precedent set under Roe v. Wade constitutes privacy for the American citizen and their choices. If it is revoked this privacy is now challengeable. State legislature will go after not only abortion (several states have trigger laws already written into affect that will instantly take over and ban abortion) they will strike down gay marriage, in*******al marriage, even your ability to get an apartment with your best friend if you are the same s*x. Yes! Seriously! There is a city in Kansas already drafting a bill for those terms. Denying constitutional privacy protection across this land for the majority of its citizens is a gruesome and terrifying possibility. And after 50 years of protection, and all the incredible human rights that have come from it, most notably the very human right for gay marriage, we stand here facing the very real possibility that our rights will be stricken away from us.
I implore you to please reach out to your local legislature and tell them that you are a voting citizen on their district and that you want Roe v. Wade be codified immediately. If we fail, this will be the biggest attack on human rights America has ever seen. If you can protest, if you can join the womens walkout, if you can go to DC or your local capital and march… do it. But at the least, please call your legislators. And VOTE appropriately November for your House of Representatives members!
With love and hope, Jess
