I learned about the colorado mountain wind at this elopement….The entire arch came crashing down before the ceremony but we were able to get creative and secure it it down with lots of heavy rocks and pieces of wood. Always learning & experiencing new things with this job. Leaving this state and flying up Seattle today, kicking off this crazy month with a high school friends wedding in my home town.

Getting ready to fly back to Seattle for a month of weddings & elopements. It’s going to be the busiest four weeks of my life but I’m feeling super excited for the chaos. So so grateful to have found the perfect place to call home for the month, thanks to .shed & so many insane blooms coming from the best .alyssum.farm. August, here we freaking come.

I had no idea where I was going or what to expect for this elopement, I just copied the coordinates into google maps and drove. About an hour of my drive was on a long dirt road with insane views, climbing up towards the continental divide. The ceremony spot was down a little hill just off the side of the dirt road & as I designed the arch a thunderstorm rolled in creating the most dramatic set up ever. I wasn’t there for the actual ceremony but I heard the storm cleared out just in time, leaving everything looking super fresh and vibrant ✨

Battled some hot hot heat with these flowers and then an unexpected wind that had this whole installation on the ground, but we rolled with it and turned it into a ground install. This was also one of the those days that I was shockingly aware of how much I looked like my mom.

When I drove up to the house where the elopement was to drop off the flowers, Olivia was outside on the deck finishing up her vows. It really reminded me how cool it is to create art for people’s wedding days. Dana came out to greet me as well and it felt so impactful to show them their flower pieces as they stood there together, not dressed or ready for the wedding yet, but just together on the porch on the morning of their wedding day ✨ Lots of local Colorado blooms in this wild wildflower inspired bouquet.

Rolling into the weekend with two elopements in Colorado and lots of fresh local blooms to work with. I’ve been slowly making connections with local farmers here and it just feels so good knowing exactly where the flowers are coming from and directly supporting the farmers.

Floral body art is my absolute favorite floral design to do. I love the tiny details, using pieces of flowers that would otherwise be swept up, the meditative flow you get in while gluing and holding each piece as it dries. I got to collab with some freaking amazing florists to cover Lilia & Quinn in flowers. We each took a different body part and created a piece to stick on. All different approaches, but together we created some floral body magic ✨

Gabby reached out to me through a college connection, wanting wild & all greenery flowers for her elopement in the Rocky Mountains. Covid made it super hard to have a wedding celebration last year, so her and Matt decided to rent a huge air bnb with their closest friends to exchange vows and celebrate. A few days before the elopement, Gabby texted me telling me that their Airbnb had flooded and they were no longer allowed to stay there.... this past year was just battling one obstacle after the other. Well they were able to find the coolest house at Garden of the Gods and had the most beautiful elopement. I love this blurred picture that Kaytlyn took so much because I feel like it encapsulates this past year - urgency, unknowing, little confusion but always making it work and making it look stunning. Also, always a great day when a client is down for a floral tat ✨

Wow okay, the last week has been a whirlwind. I’ll pop onto my stories later to tell this wild story about how we were supposed to be moving to our dream spot in the mountains to a ski in/ski out condo and how that dramatically ended two weeks before we were supposed to get the keys. So the last two days Daniel and I have had to re discuss where we wanted to move and start looking immediately, which has led us to honestly one of the coolest houses tucked up into the mountains of Boulder. So moral of the story is that I am officially staying in Boulder and will be in Boulder booking weddings/elopements all of 2022. Can not wait to share this new funky place we’re moving in to. Things always seem to really work out the way they were meant to.
