He Is Risen!

Happy to everyone reading this message.

What a year, right?! I know that some of you are finally planning to gather for dinner, to celebrate with your families. Some of you are still choosing to awaiting vaccinations. Some of you are grieving recent losses or simply spending the day alone. One thing that we all have in common, is that we are in this thing together. There have been times during this past year, that I didn’t have an ounce of anything, to pour into anyone else. I’ve been zapped. Losing my sister has been the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my 41 years on this earth. For the first time, I’d been faced with something that I didn’t know how to fix. Also, the person here on earth that I always called had suddenly departed this earth. I’ve never experienced so many dark days, nights and thoughts in my life. My heart is still shattered and some days, it feels like there’s no mending in sight........but I know a Man. I KNOW A MAN! It is only by His stripes, His endurance and His love that I am even here today, breathing and typing this message. Today (and everyday), I celebrate Him and I thank Him. I am forever grateful.

Good Saturday Afternoon!

So, I usually adopt all my “special” clients, but these two sort of adopted me. Tina told Jeff after only speaking to me via phone one time and having never met me, “She’s our wedding planner!” Jeff said, “but you haven’t even met her yet”. To this day, she says that we were meant to be. Over the years, I’ve stumbled and bumped my head. I’ve taken on some projects that taught me valuable lessons, but just maybe weren’t the best fit for my business. Then one day, I got down on my knees and Prayed earnestly to God about the clients that I desired for my business. Since then, He has continued to show up and out, over and over again! 💙

One of my favorite venues is The Morton Arboretum. I especially like the space where this wedding and reception was held, in the Thornhill Center, located almost at the very rear of the grounds. It’s past the bike path and getting to it, is like a mini adventure, full of the most gorgeous scenery. My clients wanted something intimate and private. When they saw this space they fell in love. Their wedding and reception were the only events) hosted in the entire space for the day, so no room flipping (my favorite feature 🙌🏽).

People don’t have to be nice.

My last year has been.....I still haven’t quite come up with a word for it. One thing that I am sure of, is that it’s ONLY because of God that I’m able.

After losing my favorite person on the planet, EVERYTHING changed for me. Many days I’ve thought, “how on earth can I share content for something I have absolutely no energy or love for right now?” That’s the human side of life, grief and entrepreneurship intersecting that many don’t share. I’ve never even shared it. It’s not all perfectly crafted, the way my feed appears.

Then, God sends people like of & into my life. We’ve been having long, deep conversations since our very first one, almost ten years ago. We had one last night and the way she encouraged me and helped me to see some things, I’m forever grateful. After we hung up, I saw a notification for this she created, featuring this gorgeous she designed for one of my clients. I didn’t have to lift a finger. I just had to hit “repost”.

God always sends someone, when we are weary. I’ve been working quietly, behind the scenes. While that’s often more productive, it’s mostly been because for once, I’ve wanted to stay hidden. BUT here I am, sharing beautiful things once again. It’ll be a slow climb for me, but it’s exactly what my big sis would want me to do.....and that’s to not give up.
