MUSTANG T-SHIRT – THE BACKSTORY
The story of the Mustang T-shirt begins where grit meets grandeur—our family’s ranch, nestled in the shadow of the Grand Teton Mountain Range.
We’ve been ranching in Jackson Hole since 1912, but when the 1990s rolled around, times were as lean as a coyote in winter. Cattle prices were low, and the bills didn’t much care. Then one day, a location scout for Philip Morris pulled into our driveway and asked if they could shoot a Marlboro Man campaign on our land. The money was good, so we shook hands.
When the Marlboro crew arrived, we didn’t meet polished city slickers or airbrushed actors. These were real cowboys—buckle-winners from rodeos, hands toughened by hard ranch work, and men who could gallop across the Buffalo River or drive a herd of mustangs across open fields without losing their stride.
The Marlboro Man brought the beauty of our ranch to the world, with their photos gracing magazines and billboards. Their crew came back every few years to photograph new campaigns, and in doing so, they taught us something that stuck like a burr in a saddle blanket—the power of telling the cowboy story right. Not dressed up or watered down, but raw, rugged, and true, like a Wyoming sunrise.
The Mustang T-shirt is our way of paying homage to those photoshoots. On the front, you’ll find a bucking cowboy—a tribute to the untamed spirit of those men and the wild horses they rode. On the back? A Bible verse to keep that cowboy grit grounded.
When you wear it, we hope you feel that same bold spirit—fearless, authentic, and ready to ride. So throw it on, tip your hat, and ride knowing that the story you’re living is worth telling.
