Next Wednesday is Veterans Day (the 11th day of the 11th month). Thankful for all who have serve.

Great time to consider some way to show appreciation to veterans for our cherished freedoms.

We celebrated medical professionals (as we should) during the virus; I celebrate law enforcement and fire/EMS particularly during this "unrest". Unrest? Lawlessness and mob rule is an assault on everything America stands for. Thanks to our emergency responders. God bless you.

Glad that my phone seems to work. Thanks to directors who have kept me in mind in recent weeks for some small family services. Zoom, phone and text work great for "meeting" families and crafting appropriate tributes.

Glad to see that the Governor's office has clarified that immediate family funeral gatherings are now permitted subject to "social distancing".

In light of the prohibition on funerals in our state, working on video options for families to "virtually" honor those they've loved.

Milestones and ceremonies: Saddened by the loss of the way we mark the big events in our lives.

Beneath the world-wide upheaval of the virus, people are privately mourning the loss of life’s special moments, as long-anticipated celebrations and events go dark.

While we're on the top side of the turf -- with all this virus disruption and since you can't go to the theater, the gym, the restaurant, the bar or even work -- make the most of the time actually looking at your family while you're home.
The best hour of the day can be at your own table, sharing a meal.
You're not stuck; it just might be a blessing.

A few years back, the auditorium at Puyallup High School was the place for a teacher's memorial. A rabid Seahawks fan, the service was held during a playoff game. Per advance request from the "guest of honor", the score was updated through the service.

I shared the celebrant role with Yoda a few years back. Me? I wore a black robe and carried a light saber in the darkened room as we celebrated the life of an avid movie buff.

Our Story

I celebrate lives and stories through creative and uplifting memorials, funerals, life celebrations and community involvement. Yours truly is Dale Amundsen. I’ve been a pastor, emergency services chaplain, businessman and humorist.

Perhaps you’ve been in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, funeral service, ministry or community (others are welcome, too!). Thanks for what you do! This is where I share some wit, some humor, some reflections and community involvement, along with some observations on both the serious and the lighter stuff.
