22 youth will compete in the 2024 McLean County Fair Royalty contest! The finals will be open to the public Sunday, July 21 @ 4 p.m., Heartland Community College Auditorium.

Applications have closed and we are thrilled to share that we have a total of 22 candidates vying for the title of 2024 McLean County Fair Royalty! Our candidates represent nearly every corner of our great county. Come cheer on your hometown candidate July 21, 4:00pm at the Astroth Community Center, Heartland Community College!

One week left to apply to participate in the 2024 McLean County Fair Royalty competition! Court members have the opportunity to build communication skills including interviewing and public speaking plus the opportunity to serve as ambassadors for the fair. Applications are due ONE WEEK from today! Allow us to answer some questions you may have!
Q: How do I prepare for the Contest?
A: There will be optional practices in June and July with one mandatory practice the day before the contest. Many committee members have been through this process before so we are here to help!
Q: How do I find wardrobe?
A: Every contestant will receive a shirt or polo for introductions. Our sponsor Dress Culture is offering a discount on dresses for contestants. King candidates will be provided a tux. There are also many resale groups on Facebook that our contestants have had luck with.
Q: What is the time commitment if I win?
A: Your year is how you make it! Royalty and Court will be required to attend fair week July 24-28. After that there are many parades, events, and other activities you can participate in! Our Queen also has the option of attending County Fair Day and competing in the 2025 Miss IL County Fair Queen Pageant!

Ridgeview FFA Chapter will be offering in person YQCA training May 23 or May 28 for any local 4-H or FFA members who needs to complete the training this year.

McLean County 4-H McLean County Swine Barn

Mrs. Bunting will once again be offering YQCA courses for any 4H or FFA member who needs to complete this training this year. This is a yearly course and must be completed in order to show at your county 4H.

The in-person training is only $3 (compared to $12 online) and members only need to take a pre and post test! Mrs. Bunting will be offering two dates, to hopefully accommodate busy schedules, so you only need to register for ONE class.

Please log in to your YQCA profile: yqcaprogram.org and find the training dates at Ridgeview High School to sign up. If you have any issues, please reach out to Mrs. Bunting for help!

Queen Allena is heading to Monmouth College this fall! She's on her way to reaching her educational goals thanks to the skills and scholarship earned as Miss McLean County Fair. Don't forget our program offers a $500 scholarship to newly crowned King and Queen. Applications are open until 5 p.m. June 4 or until all 12 spots are full.

Check out this story highlighting some great volunteers who stepped up to help clean up & reassemble the fairgrounds after a bad storm in 1961. McLean County Fair & McLean County 4-H Show still rely on hundreds of volunteers each year to put together the general project & livestock shows, royalty competition, Food & Farm Fun Zone & more. THANK YOU to all of our volunteers!

A thunderstorm left the McLean County fairgrounds in shambles days before the 4-H fair, but then about 120 people answered an appeal for help.

People's Choice voting for the Miss Illinois County Fair Pageant is now open! You can vote for our 2023 McLean County Fair Queen, Allena Johnson by making a donation at: https://www.illinoiscountyfairs.org/micfq-pageant

Voting is open from Monday, December 18, 2023 - Saturday, January 13, 2024. Any funds received after Midnight on January 13th will not count as a vote.

The Queen who raises the most money (gets the most votes) will be rewarded with a cash scholarship & choose a charity to donate $500. Proceeds benefit the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs & help offset costs of the statewide pageant.

2023 McLean County Fair Queen, Allena Johnson, will be competing in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant in January!

McLean County Fair Royalty

Hello Everyone! I am Allena Johnson and I am the 2023 Miss McLean County Fair Queen, competing as contestant #8 at the state pageant this year. I am a 17-year-old senior at LeRoy High School in LeRoy. Go Panthers! I plan to pursue a degree in Biochemistry in the fall of 2024. I also plan to play French Horn while in college. I aspire to work as a research scientist after receiving my Ph.D., and my goal is to win a Nobel Prize in Biochemistry.

A fun fact about me is that I enjoy learning about my family tree. Since my grandma moved back to Illinois in 2021, l've been lucky to listen to her stories and understand my dad's side of the family. It's also been fun having her help me with my sewing projects.

The highlight of my year as queen has been going to schools and 4-H clubs to speak about the joy of agriculture and county fairs.

The McLean County fairgrounds is getting some new trees this week! McLean County Ecology Action Center is planting several oak trees at the fairgrounds as part of a grant funded project.
