Jambalaya

Ingredients
2 chicken breasts skinless, boneless, cut into chunks
1 pound andouille sausage links sliced
1 can diced tomatoes 28 ounces
1 large onion chopped
1 red bell pepper finely chopped
2 stalks celery thinly sliced
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pound shrimp13-15 count

Instructions
Add all the ingredients except the shrimp into the slow cooker and stir.
Cook on low for 7-8 hours (high for 3-4 hours), in the last 15 minutes add in the shrimp.
Serve over rice.

SHRIMP DIRTY RICE
Ingredients:
1 lb hamburger meat
1 lb ground pork sausage
10-12 shrimp, tail off and deveined
4 cups cooked rice
2 cups broth, I used better than bouillon chicken
1.5 cup mixed onions and bell peppers chopped
3 tbsp veg oil, divided
1 tsp seafood seasoning
1/4 cup flour
1 tbsp oregano
3 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp thyme
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp pepper, more to taste
1/2 salt, more to taste
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions:
Season shrimp with seafood seasoning.
Over medium high heat add 2 tbsp oil and cook shrimp on each side 2-3 minutes until they make a nice 3 shape. Remove from pan.
In a large skillet add 1 tbsp oil and then ground meats. Once the meats begin to brown add in onions, peppers and garlic.
As soon as meat is fully browned add in seasonings. Next add in flour, stirring well. Add in broth and simmer 5-7 minutes.
Add in rice and simmer another 5 minutes or so. Add shrimp back in. Enjoy!

Ultimate Shrimp Grilled Cheese with Garlic Bread
Ingredients:

4 slices of thick bread (sourdough or your choice)
1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tbsp butter, melted
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Directions:

Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt and pepper, and sauté with minced garlic in butter until pink and cooked through (about 3-4 minutes). Set aside.
Brush each slice of bread with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic.
Layer mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on two slices of bread.
Add sautéed shrimp on top of the cheese.
Close the sandwich with the remaining bread slices.
In the same pan, grill the sandwiches on medium heat, pressing down gently until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with a side salad or chips. Enjoy your cheesy, garlicky shrimp grilled cheese!

The Avent Story

Nucion and Dayna Avent created Main Avent Catering in the Summer of 2001. Our life long passion for the culinary arts, down home traditions, mouth watering dishes and the desire to see dreams come true were the building blocks of our ever growing business.

We thank God daily for allowing The Main Avent Catering the opportunity to give back to our community and the surrounding non-profit groups. We are happy to offer our catering services and support to these groups year after year.

On September 16, 2016 we were blessed to open Main Avent Cafe. Going from catering to a full service cafe had it’s challenges at times. Learning the business behind the business was rough. We thank God everyday for the love and support that we have gotten from our friends, family, and community. Being able see the joy on our customer’s faces makes it all worth while. We pray that we will continue to grow with our community and promise to provide quality food and service.
