Not my last show yet... that's coming next week June 17th.

In the meantime, let me introduce you to Zilla Barbosa who will be taking over my Monday night's on Hawaiʻi Public Radio's Bridging the Gap.
Long time listeners may remember her from KTUH FM | College Radio | Honolulu where she hosted "My So Called Show" and also on KCRW who assisted KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Here’s to change, handoffs, and new beginnings.
This isn’t my last bridging the Gap show on Hawaii Public Radio. That’s next week. Instead I’m taking one extra night in-between to introduce Zilla Barbosa (pictured) who will be taking over Mondays here on Bridging the Gap. The music tonigh...

After 11 years at Hawaiʻi Public Radio it's time to wind down my tenure at Bridging the Gap. So i'm celebrating the last three shows with favorite songs collected over the years that have withstood the test of time, and deserve one last play.

It’s time.
After an 11 year run of hosting Bridging the Gap, it’s time for me to hang up my headphones on this particular chapter of my life. So I’m bowing out with three Monday evenings of favorites collected over the years that best sum of the creative anarchy of Bridging the Gap, starti...

Picked an episode of Bridging the Gap on the fly, and it ended up being a lot of Dancehall and Drum and Bass to pay tribute to the late MC Conrad. Listen to the last 20-min to hear him and LTJ Bukem live in Tokyo. Ahhh late night Hawaiʻi Public Radio, you never know what you'll hear.

The music this session of Bridging the Gap was all picked on the fly. Why? Because I’ve been so busy with other things at HPR that I haven’t had time to really prep a show. That said, expect bits of beat driven Jazz, global underground, Dancehall from diffrent places, and a tribute the the late ...

The inspiration for tonight's Black History Month session of Bridging the Gap on Hawaiʻi Public Radio comes from Smithsonian Folkways Recordings and their playlist/article from Dr. Tammy Kernodle.

Written and curated by Dr. Tammy L. Kernodle "My Song Is My Weapon" attempts to illustrate the long and varied history of Black sonic resistance in America. It is in no way an exhaustive survey of this history, but more so an examination of how Black people weaponized the one thing that could not be...

Witness my attempt at an "indie" show. Was cheesy, was catchy, was super White.

That said, I'm pretty happy with it. Listen back.

This session of Bridging the Gap started with a correction on Rusted Root and Cheryl Crow, and devolved into two hours of pretty White, yet surprisingly tasty indie rock with a few other bits thrown in. Expect music from Vampire Weekend (pictured), The Cure, The Shins, Ra Ra Riot, Modest Mouse, and....

How did an Australian band with no hits, modest media coverage and a ridiculous name find a massive audience? The group's metal-forward new album is a perfect example of how it weaponizes niche.
