Alot have asked who is holding the Cinco De Mayo Event Othello if it's the city of othello, chamber of commerce, holiday committee. Even do all 3 do amazing events for the city of othello it was actually 3 amazing residents of othello and the president of the rotary club of othello who are putting on Cinco De Mayo. So who are they the Executive Director is Sulema Martinez our Director is Maria I Martinez our Manager is Jose Garza and president of the rotary club of othello is Don Burks. All 4 attend Elevate othello meetings that was brought into othello in September of 2023 by Rural Development Initiatives with them attending those meetings they noticed on the survey that was taken in order for othello to Elevate. Listed at number 4 was more lantio cultural events. So with the help of RDI Sulema was able to apply for a grant that RDI was offering while Maria suggested we use that money to put on a Cinco De Mayo event for the community, Don loved the idea and said the rotary club will support us as they would love to see more cultural events. You might have seen them around town as Sulema Martinez is Community Navigator for Nuestras Raíces Centro Comunitario as well as a Youth Career & Training Specialist with SkillSource WA . Maria I Martinez is Family support specialist at Educational Service District 123 as well as a planning commissioner for City of Othello, Washington ,. Jose Garza is the manager for our Othello Food Bank as well as an employee of RDI. And Don Burks is the president of the Rotary club of othello who have sponsored alot of events and teams in othello most of you might know them for thier breakfast they do on fourth of july or have seen them at their booth at the fair selling there amazing chicken with all you can eat fries. These four amazing people took on a big task with a 3month window frame. So they needed help and brought in a committee of people to come in and help which is Alma Carmona some of you may know her as a planning commissioner for the city of othello, we also have Olga Mendoza, Alicia who works for adams county health department, Daina who works at our Othello High school with sped kids, kassandra who works at STCU, Marcos & Maggie who run thier business in moses lake. Our goal for this event is help our local business our small business owners and to provide the community with services that are offered in adams county. We wanna see othello grow so come on down Mayo 4th to our parade/little league opening day at 10am and join us till 10pm at lion's park. Come on down and support this first time Cinco De Mayo event to happen in our beautiful town othello.
