Some samples to show how different parts of the body take henna differently and how henna looks over time. There is a lot of variables-- each individuals skin, how fresh the henna paste is/how well it was made & stored, how dry the skin is and how often it gets wet or exfoliated.

Here's a really good example of how the area/type of skin henna is put on affects how long it will last. These designs were done the same day (look at previous posts to see them soon after they were done). The design on my foot is skin that's a little thicker, and doesn't get washed or touched as much. So it's stayed dark while the designs on my hand and wrist are very faded.

So I managed to get this henna so dark by using the gel with essential oils to re-wet the henna after it set-- much less sticky than sugar water! Also did this in the evening and then it had set enough to put a glove over it and sleep with the paste on.

It was hard to get the paste off this morning-- you want to scrape it off dry or use a lotion or oil rather than soap & water.

I was looking through some family photos getting some pics to send in care packages for Father's Day and for Braeden who is in the hospital far away from the family... and who I just found out last night is having his transplant removed since his body wasn't accepting it....

I always wanted a sister, once I had my first friend and brother James. When he got engaged, I found that I had a best friend and not just one but 2 new sisters-- my sister-in-law and her older sister. They even planned a pre-wedding trip to stay with me in NYC where I was living at the time and brought the wedding dress so we could do rock star bridals around NYC! We made quite the splash on the subway (side note--if you ever need a good hustle, wear a wedding dress on the subway--folks will offer you cab $$)

When they came out was also the first henna session I had with the amazing Akiyo Henna, who is my idol when it comes not only to 1being an amazing henna artist and designer, but also a rocking business woman and someone who uses her art for good. When I met her, she was setting up a class for cancer patients and their loved ones to teach them how to do henna designs on their bald heads during chemo.

My heart is very heavy for my sisters right now, as they face major stressors with their families' health and having to be far away from the family here in UT while they get the best medical treatment. Their lives have never been easy.

They are my heros and the real rockstar super cat women. I am sad that they can't be here to help me and cheer me on in person this Sat at the World Summer Fest-- they've never missed a henna event of mine and were the ones to encouraged me to make it a business. And their amazing party planning and cake wrecking (jk!) abilities are an inspiration to me and made me dream this big for my first public event. I know it won't be as amazing as my brother's 30th birthday carnival....

Please keep these ladies and their families in your thoughts and prayers this week. We all need a little help from our friends, and even more from our families sometimes.
