NEWS RELEASE: Carteret County residents encouraged to attend Hurricane Preparedness Expo

In preparation for the upcoming hurricane season, Carteret County Emergency Services is hosting its annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Monday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, located at 3505 Arendell Street in Morehead City.

This free, family-friendly event offers residents a one-stop shop for hurricane preparedness resources. Attendees can learn from local, state, and federal experts about what to expect during hurricane season and how to prepare their homes and families.

The expo will feature informative presentations from meteorologists, emergency managers, county staff, and key community organizations. Attendees can also visit booths from various vendors, including the American Red Cross, NCDHHS, and local service organizations. Additionally, Carteret County departments will be on hand to answer questions.

The expo will also offer:

- Hurricane season outlook from the National Weather Service
Evacuation zone look-ups
- Special Needs Assistance Program registration
- Giveaways and Prizes
- Expert presentations, including "Preparedness for Hurricane Season 2024" by Erik Heden, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service Forecast office in Newport/Morehead City, NC. Information sessions begin at 9:30 a.m.

The event is co-organized by Carteret County Emergency Services, the US National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC, Union Latina del Este de Carolina del Norte, and the Carteret Long Term Recovery Alliance.

Business After Hours EXPO

Applications for this year's Business After Hours Expo are now open! Join more than 60 other local businesses at the Crystal Coast Civic Center on April 25th for what we like to call a "Business After Hours on steroids," complete with food and drink, a 50/50 cash raffle, and other giveaways.

This is a great opportunity to advertise what your organization does better than the rest. Exhibitors are encouraged to pass out samples and swag, sell products, host giveaways, and show off your stuff through demonstrations and displays.

Booths start at only $195 for Chamber Members through March 29th and include electricity and an 8-foot booth space. Larger booths and other add-ons like outdoor space are also available for just $25 more.
