It was fun while it lasted, and the memories can compare to no other band. This page is in memory of the band that has since retired... Some of the band members have outright retired, others still play gigs with different bands. The sold-out nationwide famous shows of Branson Missouri could not compare to the sheer talent this band has delivered in the past...
Bob Weeden & the Iron Horse Band was
a group of local Green Country singers and musicians. We had come together for a common goal: to entertain people with good, Classic-Country music. Available for hire for live entertainment, each member of the band has a history of making music; many of us worked for several years at the Crescent Valley Opry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, owned by Doyle Beaver. We also played at the Wagoner Civic Center on the 3rd Saturday night of each month, and the Roxy Theater (Muskogee) on the 1st Saturday of each month. For a time you could also find most of the band near Wagoner's Chief Liquor and Creek Smoke Shop on the 1st Friday night of each month, playing live music out in the field. The band members included:
Bob Weeden - Band leader, lead singer, rhythm guitar. Bob had sung around the Green Country area for several years, had plenty of experience keeping a crowd going with antics, and always had a few good Merle Haggard songs ready to go. Kristi Grady - Lead singer, keyboard, harmony. She had been singing around Green Country and operated her own band. She can slay Classic Country, Classic Rock, and Modern Country. Kristi is a favorite among many listeners because she is a flat-good singer; she also knows how to stand up to a nearly all-male band. Her song selection includes favorites from Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, and others. Stephen McClurg - Lead singer, rhythm guitar, steel. Stephen had been singing around Green Country since 2010, favoring Classic Country and Southern Gospel styles. His song selection varied from Hank Williams to Josh Turner, and is requested for everything in-between. Bill Perkins - Lead guitar, fiddle, harmony. Bill is otherwise known as Mr. Strings - he is talented to play just about anything set up with strings, including mandolin and dobro. Perkins plays for NSU Tahlequah's live music concerts, plays out-of-state gigs, and has been playing since he was a young lad. He plays music with other bands as well. His style shifts between rock-country-bluegrass-gospel-blues. His song selection includes Merle Haggard, Eddie Rabbitt, Vince Gill, and others. Richard Martin - Bass guitar, harmony. Richard Martin was the owner/operator of Martin's Restaurant in Okay, OK. His bass keeps the beat going with a rockin' low-melody. His music selection favors the Outlaw Movement of Country Music. Richard, Bob, and Bill have worked together for many years. Randy Todd - Drum-set, harmony. Randy kept the beat going and going strong. His song selection favors some Jimmy Buffett, Blake Shelton, and Merle Haggard. Joe Wofford & Ronnie Holuby - Sound-men, security. Joe and Ronnie might very well be the most professional members of the band, in act as well as in being hired. Joe and Ronnie are a constant for the band, and are often booked for local town / city festivals and events where sound quality is a must. People around Green Country know that when they need good sound quality, there's no need to look any further.
