It was a cold and rainy day in November for Amanda and Brian’s engagement portraits, and it was a hot and humid day in June for this engagement video. You can’t tell the conditions weren’t ideal with this couple, though, because their character and connection make every shoot one to remember!

We did a fun little maternity mini down at the Wharf District before all the snow melted. This one was particularly exciting on my end because my oldest daughter tagged along and shot with me. I’m proud to see that her skills behind the camera have come to a point where you can’t tell the difference between my work and her own!!

This was a senior portrait shoot to remember! Jill is the youngest daughter of my very good friend, Judy Kinnie, and I’ve known her since she was two years old. She wanted her shoot to be unique, steering away from warmer temperatures and fall colors, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Her dark outfits contrast with the snow beautifully, and her eyes are incredibly captivating in each shot. I typically only post a handful of shots for everyone, but it was so hard to narrow down which ones that I’m posting almost all of them!

It’s always fun when I get to continue to work with people after their wedding. You get to be there when their marriage starts and then get to watch as they form a family of their own. In 2017 I photographed The Wilson’s wedding at the Erickson Alumni Center and I’ve done their family portraits every year since. This past year we went back, shooting at some of the same spots where we did their wedding portraits, which made this shoot all the more meaningful!

As I pulled into the parking lot at Coopers Rock in the pouring rain I was worried I had made a bad call by telling this couple we would do their engagement portraits rain or shine. I approached their car, expecting to see two very visibly upset people. To my surprise I got the exact opposite! They were excited and ready for this very rainy day shoot. We proceeded with one of those shoots where all I had to do was keep the camera in focus and fire away as they laughed, danced, and embraced from one background to the next, offsetting their cold and rainy surroundings with their uplifting presence. Amanda and Brian, after the fun we had with this shoot, we’re going to have a blast on your wedding day!

It’s always a pleasure to work with The Carpenters each year! Mariah dresses her family in the best outfits with colors that always compliment the background and still pop in each picture. She brings her own props too! We’ve done bubbles, giant letters, and huge lollipops over the years. This time she brought massive cookies which will make absolutely adorable family Christmas cards!

This wedding season I was very honored to be able to photograph the wedding of the son of one of my best friends. Not only was this a proud moment for me because I watched Jacob grow up, but also because both he and his wife, Cailin, have boldly served in the Armed Forces. Thank you for all that you have done for our country, and for allowing me to take these amazing shots!
