****Please, turn in your marriage license in a timely manner. ****

I have been an officiant for 14 and a half years. In all that time I have run into a big problem twice... about 6 years and then just last week. So I'm screaming it from the rooftops.
Once you have your wedding ceremony and the certificate is signed by the officiant you have one year to turn it in. After that, you will be notified that you have to arrange to have yourselves and two witnesses go to a notary and sign a statement that the wedding was performed and is valid. When they can't get a hold of you, they contact the officiant to try to track you down.
In the first case it was pretty easy to handle.
In this case, I have gotten a new phone and my contacts and texts didn't all transfer. I have their names, but can't find them on socials. They're not married and they don't even know it.

I'm Broc Johnson, owner of Idaho Party DJ. I simply can not say enough about how grateful I am when I show up to DJ a wedding and Cari is the planner. Weddings are ALWAYS unpredictable, and timelines and plans are ALWAYS a fluid conversation until the very end... but when Cari is in charge, I never have to wonder what's happening next, what the bride and groom expect, and how I can help make it the best day of their lives. Her attention to detail is second-to-none and I don't know that I've EVER watched her take a break.
