Yesterday’s wedding was beautiful! Congratulations to Ashley and Andrew!

I had the privilege of witnessing a Catholic/Coptic wedding ceremony. The Coptic religion is prominent amongst Egyptians which is Andrew’s ethnic heritage.

Love is beautiful in any religion but what a blessing to sanctify your wedding day in two religious ceremonies.

Neutral color palettes with a touch of contrast are one of my favorite palettes.

The showstopper flower 🌺 n this bouquet is the Westminster Abbey garden rose. With hints of gray and mauve Miss Abbey is a beautiful addition to this bouquet.

Share inspiration pics with your floral designer but keep in mind they are simply that-inspiration. These pictures will give your florist info regarding your preferred color palette and design style.

Then you and your floral designer will work together to create the wedding florals of your dreams.

Are you Team Warm or Team Cool?

I have always been partial to warm colors-dark reds, browns, oranges, etc.

When I’m shopping, whether it be for flowers or for clothes, I am always drawn to warm colors.

Becoming a floral designer has taught me to look at the beauty in all colors including blues, purples and greens.

What I really love about flowering is combining warm and cool colors in one arrangement.

Cool-colored flowers with a pop of warm elevates the beauty as does warm-colored flowers with a pop of cool.

The florals on a wedding tablescape can be a few well-placed bud vases, a lush table centerpiece or a tall overhead arrangement.

When deciding on floral decor keep in mind the height of the arrangements. They should allow for conversations to be had across the table.

Southern charm. That was style I was asked to do. I pictured a Southern belle in her frilly white dress with a handful of flowers from her own garden.

This was another favorite design (I have many!).

The colors make me happy that Spring is (almost) here in California!

Astrantia. What a pretty, delicate flower. To be honest, I have a bittersweet relationship with this lovely.

It always wilts prematurely!

Until today! I read somewhere that if you dip the stems in boiling water for a few seconds astrantia will stay hydrated. So while I was a little worried about dipping the stems in boiling water I tried it.

It worked!! This little beauty has been out of the cooler in water for 10 hours and it’s still as pretty as when I bought her.

I love my floral community! They’re always there when I need them!

Ask your wedding planner to schedule you some time alone with your loved one.

It can be a short walk at the venue or a private first dance just the two of you.

This is a time where you can just be with the one you love without interruptions.

Earlier this week I got to check off ✅ an item from my floral bucket list. I did a one on one with the Queen of floral design .

There are florists, there are floral designers and then there’s Lily.

She is kind, patient, thorough and very intentional with her designs.

The thing I love most about Lily is that she is humble. She makes you feel like you’re a colleague. I love this about her. She is a true artist.

Thank you Lily for a wonderful day of learning and friendship.

When deciding on the style of your bouquet keep a couple of things in mind:

1. The style of dress you’re wearing. Typically an A-line, Princess style dress looks best with a small to medium-sized bouquet. A form-fitting dress coordinates well with a medium to large bouquet.

2. Consider color palette over types of flowers. While you may want a specific specialty flower in your bouquet please keep in mind the season that you’re getting married in.

Many flowers are only available seasonally and are not available year-round. If you choose a color palette over types of flowers you’re more likely to get what you want. Speak to your floral designer about which specialty flowers are in-season for your wedding date.

HAPPY 1-WEEK WEDDING ANNIVERSARY to Ryann & Jacob Faulkender!!

Everything about last Saturday was beautiful!

First off the venue: See Canyon Fruit Ranch] is nestled in a lovely canyon under lots of beautiful trees.

Because the ceremony and reception were outdoors Ryann chose a rustic-vintage look in fall colors to accent the already-beautiful scenery.

The tablescape was another complementary fall-colored addition to the reception. The attention to detail was amazing. Good job Ryann!

Lastly, but certainly not “leastly” Ryann and Jacob looked gorgeous together. Ryann’s dress was beautiful and fit her perfectly. Jacob looked so handsome in his blue suit.

Congratulations again to Mr. & Mrs. Faulkender!

So this is one of the centerpieces I made for the First Lady’s Luncheon.

American farms donated all the product including fruits like the grapes you see in the arrangement and vegetables.

It was a big undertaking to design 170 centerpieces with less than 12 designers but it was a great feeling when we were done.

Thank you to for your vision and guidance throughout the whole event. You two are amazing!

WHAT AN HONOR!!

I was selected to be a part of the floral design team for this year’s FIRST LADY’S LUNCHEON!

It was an amazing week of meeting talented floral designers, members of Congress, their spouses, flower farm owners and the CEO of Certified American Grown. It was also a week of hard work but it was worth every minute.

A little history about this event:

-This was the 106th luncheon.

- It is put on by The Congressional Club who’s members include congressmen/women’s spouses.

-Did I say it is a BIPARTISAN EVENT? No politics spoken here!

-The proceeds from the luncheon are donated to charities that the First Lady chooses.

-All flowers used were

My floral design bucket list is full! I don’t think any other event will ever top this one!

Besides the bride and groom the bridal bouquet is almost always
the highlight of a wedding.

The highlight for me as a floral designer is delivering the bouquet personally to the bride.

There is no better feeling than seeing her delight in her bouquet.

Floral designer work is intense but I’ll do it over and over again for this moment.

Yesterday’s wedding was epic! and .7 sure know how to plan a wedding.

is the perfect venue if you’re looking for a place with a hacienda-style decor. There’s a fountain, a tiny chapel and of course cobblestone walkways.

Now back to the wedding. There was a mariachi band, a DJ and a Banda playing music throughout the night with food and drinks aplenty!

Gloria (the bride) looked stunning and Kevin (the groom) looked so handsome! You could feel the love between the two of them.

Do I sound like a wedding critic? Maybe that will be my next gig!

AgraWool- have you tried it? What are your thoughts? Have your floral designers used it?

Agra-Wool is biodegradable and used by some floral designers to replace the non-biodegradable foam.

I design foam-free so my mechanics are usually chicken wire with low-cost greenery tucked inside.

I’ve used Agrawool before with good results. I’ll let you know how it works with this sweetheart table centerpiece.
