Heather Barron - Wedding Officiant, Celebrant & Ceremony Consultant/Coach "Luminous Ceremonies" was born out of a desire to bring more joy and goodness into the world through creating ceremonies that radiate the light of love.

A Wedding Officiant, Marriage Celebrant, Ceremony Design Specialist and Ceremony Consultant who designs and officiates weddings, as well as helping people who've been asked to officiate for friends and relatives to create beautiful memorable ceremonies. A little more about Heather...

I have spent the last 13 years of my life committed to love - learning about it, being molded and shaped and h

ealed by it, sharing it with others, and basking in its glow. It is an honor to work with couples and families to create their ideal ceremony for all occasions. Blessed with a wonderful family spread around the US, a community of friends around the world, a beautiful pup, and 17 nieces, nephews and Godchildren, it is impossible to feel anything less than overwhelmed by love in my own life! I feel most at home in the Rocky Mountains, but love traveling all over the world - my most recent trip was to Trinidad to research the amazing nesting Leatherback sea turtles. I am a creative writer, coffee and tea aficionado, and general lover-of-life! I have also had more than a decade of experience creating many meaningful ceremonies to mark, celebrate, and honor important milestones in the lives of individuals, couples and families. Currently I split my time between being a guidance counselor for college students and officiating weddings. I am also trained as a public speaker, and graduated as an Integral Life Coach through New Ventures West in San Francisco, CA, as well as a trained Listening Coach for Educare Unlearning Institute in Grafton, IL.

💝Repeat after me, “Planning a wedding is fitness training for a strong marriage…” Remember your “why” and the rest is details. Surrounding yourself with those (friends, fam and stellar vendors) who will point you back to your “why” is just as vital.

Before my couples walk down the aisle, I meet with each party individually (or together, if you’ve had a First Look!). We take a deep breath, let go of the curveballs or tensions and REMEMBER YOUR WHY.

🪄Then I give you this sweet tip to try at the altar: Stand close enough to hold hands with arms relaxed (don’t worry about blocking the officiant - it’s not about us, it’s YOUR moment!), gaze into each other’s eyes and occasionally squeeze each other’s hands. Then you will not miss a moment standing at your altar as you step into marriage together. Your ceremony is your literal launch of your marriage - you want to take in every moment with each other.

This also takes out the nerves of “being on stage” or “being in the spotlight” because it’s just the two of you and your officiant having an intimate conversation (if your officiant does their job right!). It’s not a performance.

You don’t have to be one of those couples who says “I don’t even remember standing at the altar.” Breaks my heart to hear this so often from couples I didn’t marry. 💔

These are things to talk to your officiant about. Make sure you can stand this close, without a mic stand being in the way, or the officiant needing to be the center of attention. If you have a new officiant (say a friend or relative), give them the best tools to help make your time at the altar more than you even knew was possible. Make your ceremony memorable for the right reasons!

Want to make your ceremony amazing? Here’s a free masterclass on how to create a stunning ceremony - for you or your officiant! Officiatelikeapro.com/masterclass

After many stories of new officiants making mistakes, I created Officiatelikeapro.com to help new officiants do a spectacular job for their loved ones. I believe you should have someone you trust standing with you up there! And here’s how to set them up for success!

Thanks for these li’l reminders! ✨

When Morgan & Ashby came to my office, I could tell immediately they had a special bond. Their ease with each other and care for one another was obvious as we went through what they would like for their ceremony. They made each other laugh easily and working with them was a joy. Then their wedding day was filled with laughter and that same sweetness between them. Seeing these photos as my cabin is surrounded by snow, reminds me that the winter leads to amazing Summer wildflowers and Fall colors. Excited for our upcoming season!
