Last chance to see the "Summer Triangle"

Friday September 27 at 7:30 PM

Join Members of the Astronomical Society of Nevada , with a presentation from Mike Hopper, Friday September 27 at 7:30 pm at the Galean Creek Visitor Center. As Autmn begins, here's your chance to view the brightest stars at end of summer- Vega, Denab, Altair- the "Summer Triangle" . Get to know their corresponding constellations , see some amazing DSO (Deep Sky Objects).

After presentation telescopes will be out under the stars for viewing deep sky objects and the "Summer Triangle "

Ready for a new adventure? Join us for Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, February 24 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park from 10am-11:30pm! Join Park Rangers to learn about ranching and farming history in Nevada, take home new seeds to plant in Spring, and have fun as a Washoe County Junior Ranger learning about the area and how you can make a difference!

Don't miss the "Come in from the Cold" Music Series at Bartley Ranch Regional Park starting this Saturday! Great music from a wide variety of great local musicians. Doors open at 5:30 pm with the performances starting at 7.

Have you noticed how beautiful the fall color has been this year? 🍁🍂

We have three great reasons to head outdoors to enjoy the changing of the season for the next two Saturdays!

📸Join us this coming Saturday for a Fall Photo Hike on the Upper Thomas Creek Trail this Saturday, October 28th at 2pm! It'll be a good excuse to break out the extra layers as we hike about 4 miles round-trip. (🔗 in bio☝️for details and to register!)

🥾Next Saturday, November 4th, it's a double-header starting with a Fall Photo Hike to explore the stunning fall color and amazing history of Bartley Ranch Regional Park @ 2pm (🔗 in bio ☝️for details and to register!)

🪐Then, join us for an evening of stargazing at the Galena Creek Visitor Center @ 7pm! We'll explore constellations and DSO's throughout the universe with the Astronomical Society of Nevada. Bring the entire family to experience live telescopes and Astrophotography. We'll have the binoculars and hot cocoa! Warm clothes, folding chairs and flashlights with red filters are highly recommended. No registration necessary to attend.

📢 Calling all Junior Rangers!

School may be back in full swing, but we're not quite done celebrating the summer! 🌞

We're super excited to announce the first "Junior Ranger Day"  program for Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space, which will take place on Saturday, September 9th at the Galena Creek Visitor Center from 9am-12pm.

We'll be introducing our brand-new Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space Junior Ranger Activity Guide to help your Junior Rangers to learn about your amazing parks!

There will be several LNT-based learning activities, and our Friends from and will join us for all of the fun!

Effective Saturday, July 29, 2023 - Campfires and charcoal grilling will not be allowed in Washoe County Parks due to local, state, and federal fire restrictions. This includes the barbecues located throughout the picnic areas. Gas or pellet grills that can be turned off will be allowed in lieu of charcoal. We appreciate your cooperation!
