🎻 This evening the Virginia Tech String Project students take the stage at the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre at the Moss Arts Center, Virginia Tech! This free concert begins at 7 pm, no reservation required.

🎶 The Virginia Tech String Project, founded in 2007, is the signature community enrichment program for the Department of Music at Virginia Tech. Master string teachers work with Virginia Tech’s undergraduate music students to teach all classes. We fill a significant gap in the public school system curriculum by providing beginning lessons in strings to students in the 3rd and 4th grades and multiple string orchestras to support further learning.

💐 Concord Floral is a one-million-square-foot abandoned greenhouse and a refuge for neighborhood kids; a place all to themselves in which to dream, dare, and come of age. But hidden there is a secret no one wants to confront, and when two friends stumble upon it they set off an unstoppable chain of events, from shadows in parking lots to phone calls from the grave. It's time for the teens of Concord Floral to start talking.

🎹 Peter Ryan, piano takes the Squires Recital Salon stage this Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. for a guest artist recital to showcase the majesty of the piano!

🎶 Peter Ryan, D.M.A. is an Associate Professor of Music at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where he teaches and coordinates the Piano and Music Theory programs and serves as the Division of Music Coordinator. His performing and research interests lie in underperformed repertoire and underrepresented composers. Peter holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Florida, and both a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

🎭 "Sleep Deprivation Chamber" by Adam P. Kennedy and Adrienne Kennedy opens tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Squires Studio Theatre.

💡Evelyn Compton, Performing Arts student and Assistant to the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education shared a few thoughts about the play and this production at Virginia Tech.

🎟 We encourage you to purchase your tickets ahead of time for this production, as we are still unable to process credit card transactions at the door. Tickets are available online anytime at the link in our bio, or in person and over the phone at Moss Arts Center box office Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We also have dedicated box office staff available at the mobile box outside the Studio Theatre office beginning one hour prior to the performance to assist with online purchases and to process cash transactions.

🎨 The past few weeks our terrific scene shop graduate assistants have been working to distress the floor panels to transform Studio Theatre into - well, a different theatre! The upcoming production of "Sleep Deprivation Chamber" by Adam P. and Adrienne Kennedy opens on Nov. 7. Make sure you have your tickets for a chance to see how the designers and technicians age and distress our beloved theatre.

An Immersive Theatrical Installation."

Drawing from two of Edgar Allan Poe’s most well-known works, “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Raven,” the installation explores what happens when literary texts are lifted from the page to the stage and then reimagined through the use of technology.

Today, Oct. 25 at 3:30pm there will also be an AR Book Demonstration with giveaways of the books created during the project.

Wednesday, October 25: 2:00-5:30pm
Thursday, October 26: Noon-2:00pm
Friday, October 27: 2:00pm-7:30pm

Entry into the installation in the Sandbox will be every twelve minutes. You may enter into the Perform Studio to experience The Raven at any time during the times noted above. The installation contains mature content and themes.

💡Join us for a pre-show reception and panel discussion around the issues and contexts found in “Sleep Deprivation Chamber” by Adam P. Kennedy and Adrienne Kennedy. Panelists include David R. Gammons, professor of Theatre, Logan Dandridge, assistant professor of Cinema Studies, and Dr. Onwubiko Agozino, professor of Sociology.

🎭 Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. in Newman Library, First Floor, Room 101S, followed by a panel discussion at 6 p.m. All participants are invited to attend the performance that evening at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Studio Theatre.

🤝 Presented in collaboration with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Department of Sociology.

🎥 Do you want to star in a student-directed short film? This evening, Monday, Oct. 23, cinema students in the Fiction Filmmaking class will be hosting an audition night for numerous short fiction films to be made this Fall!

⏰ Performers are welcome to visit Media Building Room 102 between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm, to audition for multiple roles on various films. Auditionees will chat with the Directors about each project and read from the provided one-sheets. No experience necessary!
