Healthy habits start at home. Something I’ve been trying to be more intentional about the last few years is being the example my kids need to see. Ensuring every plate has vegetables, watching what’s on the nutrition labels, and doing our best to get a decent meal in our bodies so they can work more efficiently. The key is constant exposure so they don’t turn out picky. Today, we are having honey garlic roasted veggies, honey garlic oven baked chicken thighs and cheesy rice! Working on Amiyah, she’s my picky girl but even with her, the amount of foods she’s tried over the last couple years makes my heart happy! 😃

I’m learning that it’s a false narrative that gluten and dairy free means something is “nasty.” Look at this beautiful dairy free/gluten free cinnamon muffin. A nice alternative to milk is rice milk. Might be my favorite breakfast yet 😋

Hi everyone! I wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My love for cooking started in 2020-with the rise of COVID. We were on lockdown and I became bored and wanted to get my fitness and nutrition right. I knew working out would be challenging but not as challenging as learning how to fuel my body with good food! My boyfriend (now husband) had been an avid gym rat for years and he walked me through the beginning stages. I can’t lie, a lot of my motivation in learning to cook was based on wanting to impress him. He is Jamaican and grew up eating goooood food! I started experimenting with jerk chicken, oxtail, chicken curry and expanded from there! It became fun and satisfying for me to see the reaction people had eating my food! My husband encouraged me throughout the way and that constant encouragement ultimately led to me expanding my network.

With the rates of diabetes, heart disease and even young people being diagnosed with colon cancer going through the roof, it is so important to fuel your body with good food. Let’s reclaim our lives-away from the industry of fast food.
