Happy Anniversary Sara & Jamie! It’s not often I get to support a dear colleague with their own special event, so when Sara - who lives in DC- decided to throw a Napa Wine Country destination dinner party for her 20th Anniversary, I raised my hand and jumped right in! Such a great East Coast and West Coast crew of creatives collaborating to produce this stunning event. I still can’t get over that white grape and almond soup chef poured in the 5 course meal. Planning and design was Sara herself … a master with color, and dear friend Claudia did all custom stationary, with calligraphy from .mcsweeney, and the beautiful photos from Cicely . Stunning natural, local flowers from Susan in Sonoma County , video support from Parker , and rentals from in Sonoma, , . Wine cave and wines at Hall Wines in Napa Valley and event management and on the ground support with Corina .events.

At the heart of each Tomales Bay wedding is a couple that has found their love in the natural surroundings of this picturesque California coastline. Heart-filled experiences here have bonded them to this special place on Earth. Like our couple, Margo and Angela, who met training for the AIDS ride in San Francisco fell in love while on training rides along Shoreline Hwy 1. Recently, I visited Tomales Bay and was reminded how incredible these picturesque sleepy little towns along Highway 1 can be for weddings. From oyster-shucking welcome parties to boathouse lounging with your besties. The rugged natural beauty is always a stunning backdrop for my adventurous wedding couples, like Margo and Angela, whose photographer staged their first look at the most charming boathouse on the Bay! Sometimes couples are on the fence about having a wedding celebration vs. "making it easy on everyone" and heading to City Hall. So what tips the scales for most couples? It's almost always the feeling of being surrounded by those they love the most and being witnessed in a sacred vow with their beloved. The power of community and connection is hard to deny, and the heart and soul of weddings!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Working with Sara and Andy on their coastal Big Sur wedding started with a clear direction of having a sacred ceremony in nature. Sara reflects on their wedding planning journey in the feature:

"Andy and I were initially debating whether to have a wedding or not, and I’m so grateful that we decided to go for it. It was a transformative, empowering experience to create an experience and ritual to share with everyone we love. My word of advice is to not forget about the importance of the ceremony. Often that gets overlooked in favor of the celebrating, but a wedding is a rite of passage (one of few that our Western culture performs) and the ceremony is an incredibly powerful part of that."

I couldn't say it better than that! So much magic and meaning infused into this incredible wedding...WOW...I sure do love being a wedding planner! :-)

I was recently a speaker at the WIPA networking event at Ventana Big Sur, where I spoke about understanding and reducing our carbon footprint as an industry. Being there reminded me about Sara and Andy's incredible Big Sur wedding that was featured in and captured by artist and photographer Noa Azoulay.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​True authenticity emerges when two artists combine their love and skills to create their wedding! Sara and Andy were clear they needed to be in nature when they exchanged their vows and also wanted luxurious accommodations for family, so Ventana Big Sur was the perfect spot. Luckily they let us go "off-grid" from the usual wedding location, (great for us out-of-the-box thinkers) and mowed a large field on the property for the event to take place.

While I assisted with planning and production, Andy and Sara worked enthusiastically on hand-making all their wedding details. Everything from shibori-dyed linens and table runners to hand-thrown ceramic flower vases, silk-screened invitations, menus, and day-of details. Incredible, and truly an expression of who they are and what they care about!

Working and collaborating with artists on their weddings has been a true highlight in my 17 years as a wedding planner. Not only is it sustainable but it also creates a palpable authenticity in an event. I am so grateful for it all!

Hi, I'm Corina. In 2006 I graduated with an MBA in Sustainable Business and turned my passions towards the wedding industry. I've never looked back!​​​​​​​​

When I'm asked what continues to attract me to my work, my answer is (surprisingly to some), the HARD WORK! It's no secret that being a wedding planner is one of the hardest jobs around, and that is truer than people know. But as I have grown, and aged in this industry, I have found incredible and deep satisfaction in executing complicated projects with extraordinary results. Many of my industry friends will agree that nothing beats the magic of synchronized teamwork; problem-solving like a badass; and the beauty of executing creative concepts that have never been done before…and nailing it! ​​​​​​​​

The evolution of my career has spanned decades now, from environmental research intern to eco-media producer; from nonprofit manager to graduate student; and from wedding coordinator to event producer...never shying away from hard, meaningful work! Heck, I rescue pitbulls for fun! ;-)​​​​​​​​

The events industry in California has gone from zero to one hundred recently, throwing us all into a frenzy. It's more important now than ever to have patience and to stay connected so we can help one another ride the wave of inquiries, price hikes, staffing shortages, and limited availability. I know I'm putting out fires left and right at the moment, while writing proposals, meeting with new clients, and throwing my historical averages out the window! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I'm so grateful to my network of close planner colleagues and vendors who are offering helping hands, guidance, and a friendly voice at the end of the line. For ten years I coveted the stunning 57 acres of organic Tuscan olive orchards at McEvoy Ranch in Petaluma, CA as a possible wedding venue. I called every 3 years, or so, to see if they were allowing weddings yet. The answer for a long time was no. Then one day, it was yes! For a select group of couples each year, McEvoy Ranch opens its spectacular and relaxing estate for private celebrations. Nestled amongst natural ponds, trees, vineyards, wildlife, and coastal fog, the location is simply stunning. Like any farm or ranch, you have a choice of ceremony spots that range from the more manicured to the outright wild. I love this photo and remembering how the bride had found her perfect ceremony location up a long hill and was not put off one bit by the distance-- 11 minutes along a dirt path. Past the olive orchards and ponds she walked, marching to the beat of her own drum, wind in her hair, and elation on her face. This was a wedding where nothing could wipe the smile off the couple's faces that day. No matter how much wind and cold Mother Nature kicked up, they had the time of their lives!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For me, this year of restricted events has meant more time to invest in my business, growing my brand, building new systems, and yes, growing my grey hair out in private! 😊 When I look back at the 2006 version of my Vibrant self, I see the essence that is present today as much as it was back then. I founded Vibrant Events with three guiding principles: Love, Environment, and Celebration!

Feeling thrilled, and so excited, today as we await more guidelines from the California Department of Public Health on opening back up to larger weddings and receptions on 4/15/21. We should learn today the guidelines for food, beverage, and dancing. These very important parameters were missing from the last guidelines update, which were focussed on capacities to adhere to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Covid restrictions are still mandated, and we suspect that social distancing and masks will continue to be a part of weddings throughout the year, though maybe loosened. We will be working with our couples to poll their guests on vaccination history, and if not, to get onsite rapid testing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As more information and details for a safe reopening of California weddings arrive today, we are excited to show the state that the California wedding industry can create extraordinary experiences for marrying couples, while still following mandates. Ta-da!! The bride made her own incredible wedding bouquet. What fun! As a woman who adores nature and especially flowers, it was a dream come true for her to put her creativity to the test on her wedding day. The joy it brought her was such an inspiration to us all.
