Employee Spotlight: Meet Kyra!
Kyra is a rockstar on our Customer Service team at our Salt Lake Greenhouse! With nearly three years on our team, she brings incredible creativity and a vibrant energy that we absolutely love. From stunning succulent designs to breathtaking orchid and blooming arrangements, Kyra’s work always impresses!

Q: What’s your favorite plant to work with and why?
A: At Cactus and Tropicals, I am fortunate enough to get to work with a wide range of cool and exotic plants on a daily basis. My favorite plant to work with, though, is the customer’s plants! I love when folks bring in their own plants to be analyzed and help them navigate whatever issues they may have been having. It’s fun to repot/stage people’s plants and give them a fresh new look on life! I call it “mini plant spa day”.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about working with our team?
A: I feel so grateful to work with such a wonderful team at Cactus; it feels like joining a family. Each and every employee brings a unique flair to the greenhouse, as well as out working on accounts and creating installs. I love that each individual has a personal knowledge of plants, and we can learn from each other every day. I’ve grown so much during my time here just by shadowing some of my coworkers and emulating some of their techniques. We truly have a talented team, at all C&T locations!
Q: How did you get started in horticulture?
A: I believe I’ve been watering my mother’s plants since before I could even walk. Growing up, I can recall many weekends helping her tend the garden. She always put so much love into her plants, and she made she I knew what each one of their names were.
Before Cactus, I worked at an amazing nursery in Virginia Beach, VA. I learned so much about trees, shrubs, tropicals, and outdoor planting. It’s been fun moving to Utah and expanding my knowledge on more desert, drought-tolerant, as we as native plants.
There is so much knowledge to be learned when it comes to horticulture, but truly the best teacher is practice and experience.
