Employee Spotlight: Meet Mickey! 🌱
Say hello to Mickey, one of our talented florists at the Salt Lake Greenhouse. Since joining our team in 2023, Mickey has shown incredible growth and creativity in floral design. Let’s get to know Mickey a little better!
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of being a florist?
A: “The most rewarding part of being a florist is seeing how flowers bring everyone together. Through celebration, loss, birth, death, and healing, I get to be in the middle of it all. My designs help people smile, cry, laugh, and love. It is truly one of the most rewarding experiences ever. Another rewarding aspect is my team. I could not ask for a more accepting and loving group of people. I love going to work and being my authentic, crazy self. Most of the time, it doesn’t feel like work; it feels like I get to embrace my creativity, spend time with amazing people, and brighten others’ days with flowers.”
Q: If you could design a bouquet for anyone, who would it be and what flowers would you use?
A: “I would design something for a younger version of myself. Even as a child, I was in awe of flowers, especially their fragrance. I would choose a lot of fragrant flowers like lilac and lavender, add tulips because they were my favorite, and include petunias for their scent, reminiscent of my grandma’s garden. I’d use plenty of yellow flowers like daffodils, lisianthus, and roses. I might even add some pea pods and strawberries because who doesn’t love eating out of their bouquet?”
