T3 Expo feels good about the Class of 2024! The Events Industry Council reports that event planning is one of the fastest-growing career paths, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that employment in the field of meeting, convention, and event planning will grow by 18% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.
We might be biased, but this is one of the best industries to be in. Check out our recent blog post for top four reasons why.

With Convention Centers having more space available the South Padre Island Convention Center opened its doors to some different visitors, Sea Turtles. After the rescue facility lost power the team at the South Padre Island Convention Center stepped up to provide a space for Sea Turtle Inc to continue their rescue efforts for the cold-stunned turtles. The turtles were kept safe from the chill for several days at the convention venue, warming up and recovering their strength under the watchful eyes of rescue staff and volunteers before being returned to the water. ・・・
Thank you to all EDPA members who engaged with us Friday and Saturday to build support in the Senate for the Rubio Amendment, which would have expanded eligibility for the Shuttered Venues Grant Program.

As you may have heard, Senator Rubio’s amendment was not adopted over the weekend as the Senate worked on passing the American Recovery Plan Act. We should not consider this a defeat, or a lack of support for our industry. Out of 509 amendments that were filed, only 30 were actually considered, and only six were adopted before the debate wrapped up Saturday afternoon.

So, the message going forward is, ‘Let’s keep it up.’ As we have all seen over the last year, the legislative process is not a smooth one, and progress is made in fits and starts.

Thank you again for your hard work to drive our agenda forward. We will be in touch soon on additional steps to gain much-needed assistance.

Vice President and
Industry Advocacy Chair
