Experience Polynesian 🌺 culture and enjoy some tasty kava-infused beverages 🍹at !
So, what is kava? 🤔
"Kava is the Tongan name for a plant native to many of the Polynesian islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is also known by other names on other islands, such as “awa” on Hawaii and “ava'' on Samoa. Its scientific name, Piper Methysticum, is derived from latin: “piper” for pepper and “methysticum” for intoxicating. And like its scientific name suggests, Kava is known for the various ways it can affect the human body."
Kava has played an important ceremonial role in Polynesian culture for a very long time. Learn about it's origins, how it's prepared, and how to respectfully receive the beverage on our website.
While you're there, learn more about owners/sisters Zion Kalaniu’i and Ariam Kamalani and how they are sharing their Polynesian heritage through music, song, dance, storytelling, and tasty beverages at The Kava Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Our Story
Aloha and Ia’orana! We welcome you to our page and want to share a little of who we are not just as Entertainers but as a Proud Polynesian Family. Our Mother is Hawaiian and Father is Tahitian. Both cultural performers they met at the famous Polynesian Culture Center and fell in love. Raising a family in traditional ways was always a goal for them, with importance of knowing who we are and where we’ve come from has helped our generation as we moved to the mainland United States and assimilated into their social culture. Never losing the teachings of our forefathers, we stand proud as Polynesians and 1st generation Americans.
Since a young age, we have had the discipline of learning from Halau (Traditional Hawaiian School of Dance) , Our Father James Buchin who is a Multi-Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Dancer, Costume Designer, Choreographer and Cutluralist. We have also had the privilege of learning from many wonderful Aunties and Uncles who have positively impacted our lives. We have been active since a young age of 3+. Always wanting to join our Father as he traveled performing we worked hard to achieve a “Professional Status and began touring professionally at age 11. Learning traditional and world music such as jazz, classical, flamenco, R&B, Reggae, Oldies, Top 40’s and more. Entertainment was a form of employment as we began touring, traveling and sharing our culture through Luau Shows, Pow wows, Educational Seminars, Title 1 Educational Series in Schools and helping in our communities. Our Children have also taken up theses same disciplines and love being our students. The eldest 2 of the Grandchildren are now one of our Premier Musicians and Lead Dancers.
The value system of Polynesians are held in high respect under “Aloha”. The basis is “Aloha Aku Aloha Mai”- which means “Give Love to Receive Love”. We hold that same value system in everything we do. Thus we begin each show with Aloha and end it the same.
We rejoin the stage after years of raising our own children and exploring different avenues and professions to bring this “Aloha” and education back into our communities as we travel about and share our passion through Songs, Dances, and Cultural Education. Redefining and leading the way for our own posterity and impacting others through Cultural Diversity, Awareness and Aloha.
60+ years in the industry, Professional Performers, Cultural Activists, Community Advocates, and One Big Ohana! We know how to have a “Hulagood” Time!
