Take a minute. Take a hot minute. During your wedding, birthday party, anniversary, what have you.

Our world today is full of to do’s, 839402 emails from companies we generally don’t care about, marketing ads convincing you to do more and be more. I’ve struggled with this and likely so have you.

Since it’s Friday…try this:
1️⃣ Find a time in your busy schedule
2️⃣ Collect some food you like, a beverage you think is yummy and a blanket to sit on or keep warm.
3️⃣ Find a spot in nature. A city park, the mountains, your front yard (that’s where I am while writing this).
4️⃣ Don’t think, just be. Literally stare at a tree if you want. Make a daisy chain. Watch the tide roll in (I’m looking at you Seattle). Let the ✨ magic ✨ do it’s thing

No bad weather.

These guests had a front row seat to the most epic hailstorm that I’ve ever seen on Vashon (Maury) Island. And I spent the first 18 years of my life there. It might as well have been snowing. In October.

It may have been the most stressful experience I’ve ever had as an event planner…yet oddly peaceful because I couldn’t do anything about it.

Once it passed, the guests hopped right back to happy hour, cozied up to the outdoor heaters and enjoyed sunshine peeking through the clouds.

Like I said, no bad weather.

The .park wedding expo is going to be super great with vendors galore! It’s a huge space so lots of room so you don’t have to feel rushed when checking out vendors.

The father daughter moments get me every time. And when it involves this Dad’s vintage Alfa Romeo…bring me a Kleenex box why don’t you.

I would like to selfishly think that I have the best seat in the house for every wedding. I get to know the process from the very beginning (most of the time).

I am there from the first thoughts and dreams of what the day could be and help it to become a reality. I learn of the nuances, frustrations, joys, hard work, awkwardness and happiness.

I get to see the special touches that bring the wedding to life and make it unique to the couple, their families, the setting and whatever else they hold dear.

When the day arrives and the ‘ok this is happening today’ feeling sets in, I’m there to witness it.

I get to lovingly ask “are you ready to start?” and also unequivocally say “ok! let’s get going, the food is getting cold”. Somehow that feels like the perfect paradox.

I feel so privileged to be able to play a small part in a day that holds so much meaning.

Real talk moment:

I used to say that I straight up don’t like cake. It was a fact that I hung on to.

Having a few more trips around the sun since then, I’ve discovered that they are not all plain white with an inch of ultra sugary frosting.

Such as THIS CAKE made by THE BRIDE! She is a professional pastry chef so of course nothing else would do. brought her heart and soul to this cake and it was beyond delicious!

I’ve officially been proven wrong, cake can be yummy!

Callista + Matthew’s wedding was so thoughtful and intentional that it’s hard to know where to start. 

If you look closely, you can see the slush of hail on the ground that looks similar to the last of a snow melt. The hour leading up to the ceremony held more “change of plans” than I’ve ever had in such a short time span. I’m talking “ok let’s do it now. no wait. let’s move it inside. no outside. what about the tent? only inside if it’s a downpour. we have umbrellas it’s fine”. 

PHEW. 

One wedding guest said to me “We’ve seen Vivaldi’s four seasons today, it’s been great!”

That’s the beauty of weddings. Your guests just roll with it most of the time because it’s happening and they can’t change the weather so they carry on!
