10 years in the Event Design industry, and I feel …. nostalgic, celebratory, and proud. I am reflecting back on why I started RA Event Design a decade ago. It was about family and how I was going to spend time with my little lady and fulfill my passion for helping others execute their event visions. It really started over a decade ago, but the official paperwork is for this day. My little lady is now a high schooler, but I still enjoy the freedom of being able to set my own schedule to accommodate spending time with her.
I feel celebratory of all that has been accomplished during this decade. Anyone who knows me…knows I do not like talking about my accolades and generally avoid it whenever possible. This is the most challenging section to write because there have been some really wonderful experiences over the years, but I never want to sound braggadocios. I have planned fundraisers for some wonderful nonprofits, galas for large corporations, and weddings that celebrated all love. I launched and managed a venue that generated a more than respectable income and was the backdrop of dozens of love stories. I have been published in magazines and blogs. I have written for and provided an expert opinion for some of the same industry magazines and blogs. I have worked internationally in both England and Italy and they were glorious experiences. I launched Curated The Collection (gifting/hosting arm of the company) and have provided custom gifts to happy clients and companies.
I am proud to be a black-owned woman business that not only survived the pandemic but is thriving and able to provide income streams to others; while still providing the flexibility that prompted me to launch in the first place. Cheers to 10 Years!!
