There's a misconception that if you hire a planner your wedding will be cookie-cutter and that your personality, heritage, and desires will be cut out of the planning and gosh, that's simply not true! At Truly Together, we LOVE telling your story and sharing your love with your guests in ways that are intentional, meaningful, and long-lasting.

A note for photography timelines: detail photos take time. We LOVE getting them back, but don't forget when hiring your photographer that they'll need some time with your details box, your attire, and other sentimental items, to make sure to document it well. The length of time varies depending on what you include there, but we try to allocate about 30 minutes to detail photos (this doesn't include reception decor & detail photos).

It was such an honor to work with Devi (they/them) and Chris (he/him) to help plan their wedding and tell their story. There were so many moments throughout this wedding that were so joyful and loving, it'll be hard to select just a few to share.

Your mental health is SO important and planning a wedding can be stressful. We have a few tips for you to help manage the chaos:
- Set one day/evening a week for a "wedding planning powwow" so you and your partner can walk through things. This will help you trust that you're moving forward on things and they're not getting pushed off and also stop wedding planning from consuming all of your brain space as it has a dedicated "get things done" timeframe. While the frequency may need to adjust from time to time through the planning - this concept is SUPER helpful to stop things from stacking up and feeling overwhelm.

- Continue to date. Don't sacrifice your partnership for the wedding - that's not the point. The dates can be smaller, but intentional time without talking about the wedding and without phones/emails/etc and just focusing on connection is so important!

- Establish decision makers - Everyone will give you advise for your wedding. Your cousin Suzie did this spectacular thing at her wedding and you MUST do it that way. No. You don't. You don't have to do every suggestion. And trying to please everyone with an opinion will overwhelm you in a heartbeat.

Hey y’all! I’m Melissa, planner extraordinaire, boy mom and recently a fur baby mom. Any corgi friends out there? I’m taking all the corgi tips, send them my way! 💙🐶

I’ve been a planner for 4 years and absolutely love my job.

My favorite parts of a wedding are -

When the couple sees each other for the first time, it’s always such a sweet moment.
Father daughter speeches always get me teary eyed
Seeing “all the things” come together in the reception hall. The florals, the tablescapes, the signage…all of it.
Watching all those spontaneous moments unfold, like a parachute dance floor or the bride taking the mic and belting out a song like a total pro. It’s these moments that I always cherish.

We have been having a lot of internal discussions lately about our core value of inclusivity and really bringing to light a few things we have learned in the last year and how we have grown to expand our thought process for inclusivity.

This might mean having amplified sound at a smaller wedding ceremony as there are hard of hearing guests and we want to make sure they feel warm, welcome and appreciated. It might be making the font on the signage less "scripty" and more "clean & clear" and font size larger to make it easier to read for those with limited eyesight.

There are a lot of ways this can be implemented into your event - and we look forward to planning with you on this!

Wedding myth: The cost of a service or product changes to be more expensive, just because I said it's for a wedding even though it's the EXACT same product or service if it were for a birthday, anniversary, or another occasion. It's a wedding tax.

Nope. This isn't true. Does it cost more if it's a wedding? Yes. Why? Because it's more work.

It's inherently more complicated, less room for error, and there's so much emotion involved with each and every decision. Due to all of these variables, vendors spend more time providing education (after all, people have more than one birthday/anniversary/etc., but not usually more than one wedding), more hours answering questions / reviewing design changes / more hours reviewing the details to make sure everything is perfect because there are no do-overs, and overstaff to make sure that we can do everything in the time allotment which is typically shorter than other events.

The stakes are higher, the stress is higher, the emotions are higher and the ability to make things right if something goes wrong is reduced. All of this rolls into that pricing. It's not as simple to say "I'm not going to tell them it's a wedding so I can save money" - there really is a reason behind it all and a lot of that comes through blood, sweat and tears. It's going above and beyond for hours and hours, making sacrifices and, sometimes, making mistakes and learning the hard way. It's not meant as a way to price gouge, and it's not meant to be unfair, but it is meant to make sure that everyone is being fairly compensated for the work (and risk) that they are taking on with your wedding.

I believe I speak for a lot of wedding vendors when I say: We LOVE what we do - that's why we do it. But we also do it to make a living, it's not a passion project or a hobby - it's our livelihood and it's HARD but also SO rewarding.

Our phrasing here is intentional - I said get the BEST from your vendors, not the MOST from your vendors, because getting the best product or service from your vendor isn't always about getting more or getting things free, it's about getting their BEST work and what's going to be truly successful for your event. Your wedding vendor, whether they're your hair stylist, florist, baker, planner, or anyone else, is collaborating with you to bring your wedding to life.

When you have great vendors (and if you're shopping off our preferred vendors list we know you are), these 3 tips really come into play and your vendors will love you for it!

1. Trust their experience - we partner with great vendors who can help guide us on what will work well and what falls flat or doesn't logistically work well at a full wedding (vs a styled shoot).

2. Listen to their boundaries - whether it's office hours, or systems & processes, respecting your vendors boundaries will absolutely help them be successful. The deadlines and processes put in place by vendors are there for a reason and help them deliver the best work for you!

3. Pay them well & tip when appropriate - respecting established pricing lets your vendors know that you appreciate their work, experience, and portfolio. Tipping lets them know they did a great job for you!

Vendors - let us know what you appreciate the most!

We love how these carefully planned back of the aisle arrangements made such a big impact in the aisle photos for L+L by framing the door & providing height when looking back. This is a great example of intentional planning with crafted features making a big impact to make your budget stretch farther.

Hey - Cassie here! It's been a while since we've done introductions around here - so I'll start!

I'm Cassie, owner and boss babe of Truly Together Event Co. I've been planning weddings for 15 years now and I still learn something new at each and every wedding and I wouldn't have it any other way.

🎶 And these are a few of my favorite things! 🎶
Griffon - my horse. I've wanted a horse since I was 10, yes... I was that horse-obsessed child but was not a princess by any means. I was the, let's get dirty, jump the jumps, and clean the stalls sort of horse girl.

I'm definitely a plant lady and will get super excited at my new monstera leaf unfurling, but also understand that part of being a plant lady is that some plants are disposable (looking at you calathea).

I love reading and do most of my book consumption through Audible or while on vacation. I currently have about 8 different books in progress... and yes, eventually I will finish all of them.

TTEC Core Value: Education
What does that mean?

We believe that every decision should be an educated one. You may still make the same decision, but you should know what you’re giving up or walking into with that decision so you can walk into it with your eyes open. We are here to make sure you know all of the variables of that decision so you can make an educated choice on the best fit for you.

So, I tell everyone who wants to listen about this, and my therapist said they used it with their future clients.

We use a "care level" system to evaluate what's important and what's not for us in decision making. We are both opinionated, so it's very helpful to understand what's truly important to the other person in this way and allows us to really think about our own opinion and if it matters on this particular thing as much as our partner.

Partner 1: Hey - I think we should play XYZ song for our cake cutting.
Partner 2: Uh, I don't love it, but my care level is about a 2 out of 10.
Partner 1: Cool, mines probably a 7 out of 10.
Partner 2: Okay, that's good to know. Go ahead and submit that to the DJ. I care more about the first dance song anyway.

It's a great way to allocate decisions and align through the planning process (and... life). All opinions aren't always equal - not to say one partner over another, but we all have different values, but if you have an opinion on everything, how do you know what really matters to you vs your partner?

At the end of the day, a wedding is a celebration with you two as a couple and those who love you. Bringing everyone together for great fun, conversation, community and of course, a celebration. We love seeing how celebrations vary from family to family.

When we look at images like this one, we are reminded that this peaceful and serene space will be filled shortly with laughter, fun, and community.

28/03/2024

Looking to include your furkid in your wedding? LOVE IT! There are many ways, but if your dog is physically able to attend the wedding here are a few tips we recommend:
* Having a handler - this person is attached to your dog at all times. This helps to ensure that there's no overload for your dog or that they don't go swimming in the venue's water fountain, etc. They give you a human to hand off Fido to when you need to be smooching your boo during photos.

* Have a schedule - weddings are people-overload and for some dogs, that's too much. Make sure you have a plan for how they're getting to the venue (all day is A LOT) and when they're leaving (we recommend during cocktail hour). This does mean that a guest may have to leave the wedding and come back, but there are services that will do all of the legwork for you if that sounds like a good fit (and they're fabulous).

*Photos with large groups can be overwhelming for dogs or it's hard to get them to look at the camera when there's a lot going on. We recommend including them in smaller groupings so there's not so much competition for their attention and you'll get that great photo with you two + your dog all smiling together.

At the end of the day, you know your dog and what they can handle, so be sure to set reasonable expectations AND NEVER GIVE THEM REAL RINGS.

See more in our blog on including dogs in your wedding! Link in bio.

We love this idea of creating a story with your tables. While numbers have a logistical place (sometimes it's helpful to do a blend of both so the catering can easily find their way around), having addresses, cities you've lived in, concerts you've been to, places you've traveled, your favorite restaurants, mountains you've climbed, or whatever your thing is as a couple - it's a great way to share that with your guests.

21/03/2024

If you want a full service experience, PLEASE hire your planner first. We can help to make sure you're a good match for your venue and you're not misaligned in your budget (read: overspend on your venue, or not see things that are down the road) and your venue. We can help with this search, help you review the contract (we're not lawyers, but we can help provide context, and we know what's normal and what's not). If you hire a venue first, that's okay, but sometimes that means we're left with a budget that is mis-matched with your hopes as your venue took up a larger portion that makes sense for your budget.

For wedding day management (sometimes called coordination... or day of coordination, although, that's an outdated term that we're really trying to remove from the industry altogether), please hire your venue first. Or you can add our venue search package, but that's a different thing altogether :)
Why? Well, sometimes in the search for a venue, your date may change when you find the right one, and if we're holding a date for you, there will be a fee to change the date as we will turn away other business once you've claimed that date - it's yours. For full service, we have a different process since we're a part of the venue search and have that as part of the plan and the pricing.
