Ugh - got the news yesterday that my job is going away. I am just really sad because I LOVED it. During 2020, with covid funds, Baltimore County opened a virtual high school. I was called and asked to take the job. Back then I reluctantly accepted, not sure how it would balance with the rest of my life – giving boss until June. 3 years later and I never wanted the job to end. 🙁
While I have a promised job in the county - somewhere- doing something… I do not think it is in my best interest to be in a school building far from home. Among so many changes, this would mean getting the kids up by 6am and dropping them off before care, totalling around $1000 a month - plus, everytime they are sick, having to call in sick. (This would have been 10 times in the last month).
So, I am looking for something that would complement my husband’s schedule. Something that starts after the kids get to school. Something that I could do remotely sometimes, but I do not mind going into an office or place of work most of the time.
My professional history: I have an undergraduate degree in History and Secondary Education, a Masters Degree in Educational leadership. I have taught at a variety of different settings: Woodlawn High, Pikesville High, Dulaney High and Virtual Learning. (20 years of experience) I have taught graduate level courses at Towson University. I have taught 3-5 year old chinese students english in the wee hours of the morning. I run/ran a small business where I planned, wrote and officiated over 200 weddings. I run a household with 4 kids, a doodle and a husband (it’s a lot of work).
I have taught Government, Economics, Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, AP Psychology, World History, US History, Juvenile Justice, Facing History, African American History, Philosophy, AVID…
I love learning new things - painting, carpentry, gardening, landscaping -but mostly- I love sharing my love and passion for learning and growing with others.
