The Heritage Barn at the Dunham Homestead is an enchanting, cathedral style barn, located in Hamilton, NY. The Heritage Barn has a capacity of 300 for weddings and events. We totally get it! It can be awkward and uncomfortable for some people and THAT’S OK!! ⁠

💃 Here are our tips for a seamless first dance:⁠
⁠
⭐️ You don’t have to dance for the ENTIRE song. If you’re uncomfortable, ask your DJ to wrap it up after a minute or so. That way you get the experience but it does’t drag on too long (you can do this for parent dances too).⁠
⁠
⭐️ Ask your wedding party to join at a certain point in the song with their significant others or have your DJ invite all couples up so you’re not dancing all alone in the spotlight.⁠
⁠
⭐️Have your first dance during a more casual setting like during cocktail hour so people are hanging around and still having their drinks and snacks.⁠
⁠
⭐️Pick a song you both love and can get into. It doesn’t have to be a stereotypical “first dance song”. It has to be meaningful to you so you can actually enjoy it.⁠
⁠
⭐️Pay attention to the most important person in the room, YOUR PARTNER! No one else matters in that moment so lock in, share some little conversation, laugh, and love on each other and live in the moment. Forget everyone else in the room and focus on the two of you.⁠
⁠
⭐️PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!! If you’ve practiced the dance and some fun moves, you will be a lot more confident on the big day!⁠

⭐️Do a private first dance alone or with just your wedding party and immediate family while the rest of the guests are enjoying cocktail hour.⁠
⁠
⭐️Switch things up and do a private last dance at the end of the night once everyone has departed.⁠
⁠
It’s YOUR wedding day and your experience and memories so do what you are comfortable with and what will help make it the most meaningful for the two of you. 💕⁠

Our Story : (the short version)

Meet the Family

Hello, we are the Dunhams. We are the current of the many generations of Dunhams that have grown up and worked on our family farm. The Dunham Homestead was founded by a young Alpha Dunham about 200 years ago and has been handed down through the generations ever since. Today, with the livestock all gone, we decided that we wanted to share our family history and the beauty of this amazing property with those who are recognizing their own heritage and adding to their own family story.

For centuries, the Dunham Homestead has been a large part of the community in Hamilton, NY. It has shaped our family and provided a living for the generations before us. We now will do our part to keep the history alive by sharing our little piece of bliss.
