My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

Join us for our annual Women in Beer event at the Pike Pub downtown, presented by CougsFirst! It'll be an interactive tasting experience with food, drinks, and other businesses championing diversity and equality. Featuring: Yonder Cider, Reuben's Brews, Stoup Brewing, Chuckanut Brewery, BroVo Spirits, and Fast Penny Spirits. Proceeds from the event as well as a portion of proceeds from beer sales throughout the month of March will once again benefit the Rose Ann Finkel Diversity in Brewing Scholarship as well as Pink Boots Society. The scholarship supports the upcoming Brewery Certificate Program at Washington State University’s Viticulture and Enology program, set to launch in 2024.

Last night I was feeling a little melancholy. Missing my friends who’ve left this earth and trying to breathe deeply and accept the discomfort of being in a transitional space. Remembering how far our community as a whole has come and how many people we’ve lost.

Today, randomly, I started cleaning and came across all of these amazing memories in print. Interviews and features with my name somewhere on them either as a byline or subject. Yes, I found them in a bin in the closet… ha ha ha. I’ve put them aside for Sophia one day because there are some stories I’d love to pass along to her about our community. Big announcement for the future of Seattle Pride!

Longtime education leader Patti Hearn has been named as the new executive director of Seattle Pride – the LGBTQIA+ advocacy organization which produces two of the state’s largest Pride Month events (Seattle Pride Parade and Seattle Pride in the Park), as well as year-round programs aimed at advancing LGBTQIA+ equality.
