First time growing Cherokee purple tomatoes. Excited to try this new variety.

In flower news, I’ve almost done planting all of the dahlias (two months late, but thankfully we have a long growing season) - I also took quite a few cuttings, which delayed getting quite a few planted.

I’m still only growing on half of the farm - will get the other side tilled, beds amended and compost down in the fall.

In the meantime, follow along as I reclaim the flower fields. 🤘🏻🌸

One of a kind pieces make me happy - just like this stunning piece. Savannah’s flowers dried beautifully and when paired with live edge box elder, the magic is undeniable. Can’t wait to for this piece to be complete because it’s going to be a stunner.

Loving creating functional art from y’all’s wedding flowers, especially when I’m trusted with all the ideas. Shipping this beauty off today and can’t wait to see it hang in my clients entryway in Virginia and remind them of their Topsail wedding last fall.

Updates — peony season is over (such a bummer) but dahlias will be blooming soon. Im not currently offering subscriptions or custom arrangements at this time (unless you want them on a weekend and my minimum is $100, not including delivery).

Floral Preservation projects are moving along. I’m working through October clients now and my books are still closed until I can catch up on some of my existing clients projects.

I fully recommend taking a hiatus from social media as often as you can. It’s extremely hard for us small business owners, but man it was so nice to disconnect over the holidays.

To anyone that’s sent an email or a message, I’ll be getting back to everyone this week.

Happy 2023!!

10/12/2022

Come see me at the Wilmington Farmers Market at Tidal Creek from 8am-1pm today and Poplar Grove from 5pm-9pm to get some holiday goodies for you and your loved ones.

I started working with resin a year ago when my friend Jill tagged me in a fellow artists Instagram post. Her words “I think this would be really cool for you to try.”

I started with small resin projects, working my way up to trays and larger items before feeling confident enough to open my books to clients.

I’ve loved every minute learning and growing in this craft and am so grateful to fellow artists willingness to answer questions and for Tim (.epoxy ) graciously sharing his cell and answering all of the questions.

I have some big goals for next year and can’t wait to share the journey.

Harvested some flowers with imperfections and some that needed to be deadheaded and will be drying them for some trays that will be available at Autumn with Topsail next month. Even though these blooms can’t be enjoyed fresh, they’ll be enjoyed for years to come when they’re encapsulated in resin and cast into beautiful, functional art pieces.

About Ivy & Oak

- A LITTLE ABOUT US - Ivy & Oak Farm started much like our flowers, as a tiny seed of an idea nurtured by a lot of love and devotion (and a ton of spreadsheets and how to books). Growing on less than an acre, we're a small scale flower farm in Holly Ridge, North Carolina. Since my hands are always in the dirt, I ensure that no pesticides or chemicals are ever used in our soil or on our flowers. Our flowers are harvested multiple times per week, ensuring you have the freshest seasonal flowers around, and they haven't taken a plane, train or boat to get to you. If you have a special occasion or want your flowers to "say" something to their recipient, let us know. We can arrange bespoke bouquets based upon the Secret Language of Flowers (don't worry, we include a handwritten note to identify what each flower means).

- WHY CHOOSE LOCAL? - Did you know that 80% of the cut flowers sold in the USA are imported from other countries? This means that your flowers have traveled thousands of miles to reach your table, often cut a week or more before you even buy them, and are typically drenched in chemicals to help them survive the journey and pass strict Customs inspections. We're part of the #grownnotflown movement and take pride in offering flowers that go straight from field to vase. Our flowers also support a diverse ecological system, benefiting our local pollinators, birds, and wildlife (Peter Cottontail is even known to make an appearance).

- SERVICES OFFERED - *Floral sales to photographers, florists and local businesses *Seasonal floral arrangements with *free delivery within Holly Ridge & Sneads Ferry area (*minimum $30 purchase required for free delivery) *Bouquet subscriptions (Limited Availability beginning in April - visit our website for additional information)
