David Dixon Harrison

David Dixon Harrison, 87, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing & Rehab in Madisonville.
He was born on March 18, 1937, White Plains, KY, to the late Josephine Dixon Harrison and Ross Dixon Harrison. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 1990 as a permit engineer from the State of Kentucky and later enjoyed surveying along with his good friend, Donald Fletcher. He loved NASCAR and camping. On the weekends he enjoyed auctions, yard sales, and visiting friends along the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Donna Gillam Harrison; sister, JoAnn Lowery; and nephew, Scott Schaefer.
Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly Harrison of Madisonville and Melissa (Thaddeus) Dodds of Lexington, KY; brothers-in-law, Billy (Terri) Schaefer of Evansville, IN and Larry (Kim) Schaefer of Madisonville; nephews, Brent (Bonnie) Lowery of Russellville, KY and Jason (Karma) Lowery of Jackson, TN; nieces, Elizabeth Anderson and Terra (Travis) Divine, both of Evansville, IN, Casandra Schaefer of Deltona, FL, and Sarah Schaefer of Goodyear, AZ; and several great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Cary Pentecost officiating. A private burial to follow at Concord Cemetery in White Plains, KY.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Billy Schaefer, Larry Schaefer, Brent Lowery, Jason Lowery, and Thaddeus Dodds.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 51, Madisonville, KY 42431, or to the Christian Food Bank of Hopkins County, 241 W. Center Street, Madisonville, KY 42431.
