Textbooks. Technology. Clothes and shoes. Coats. Sports gear. Jewelry. School supplies. Bedding. Toiletries. Small Appliances. Furniture. Food. Cooking tools. Their childhood stuffed animals.

It was a total loss. Nothing is recoverable.

232 people lost everything at the off campus student housing complex in Amherst, MA.

Six of those students are from the town where I teach, and one of them was my student in grade 5.

Talking to the parents of our Westford students, it is going to take THOUSANDS of dollars to replace even the bare minimum.

Some of the students will be commuting from Westford to Amherst until new housing is secured. That’s 90 minutes each way without traffic.

It takes just a minute to donate with Venmo. The funds will go directly to our six students from Westford to help ease this financial burden. Every bit helps. Imagine if everyone who follows could donate between $10 and $100.....

Took the kids back to the boarding school where they grew up. Leaving that place was hard and it was not an easy decision. It was the financially correct thing to do at the time, but I still fight with middle of the night regrets of taking them away from growing up in that fantastic community. Who knows? Maybe they’ll teach at a boarding school one day….
