As some of you may know, I'm not formally trained in culinary arts. I met the beautifully talented and formidable Chef Shanel a few years back, who is formally trained and has worked in numerous competitive kitchens. The day we met she looked me in my face and told me to stop calling myself an amateur. She plainly said that all the technical things I create, people don't just know how to do. She affirmed that much of what she learned was outside of culinary school and validated that my unorthodox training was valid.

This picture was taken when I had the privilege of cooking with her at an event where her talent wowed every diner (legit every plate was clean!) Such a fun memory.

I can't wait to get back to chefin it up soon. We will announce when books for private dining and more reopen. I've been fighting my way back to serving love on every plate. If no one has shown you today, I love you but God loves you better. Be blessed. -Chef Kenny

Right before the official launch party in 2021, I learned that my Dad and granddad were planning to open a BBQ joint but didn't due to my granddad's illness. I do what I do because it runs in my veins. I'm considered self-taught. My first French macaron was when I made it myself. I taught myself to my egg noodles and began mixing my own spice blends when I didn't grow up seeing that, but the love for food and the emphasis on community is deeply instilled in me. It's literally in my DNA. I can't wait to feed you. I'm fighting my way back to serve you love on every plate. I can't wait to make your tastebuds dance again. -Chef Kenny

A few years back, volunteering at the food pantry at my previous church home, organic endive lettuce was available. People were up in arms about that word "organic." They didn't know it simply meant that the lettuce was once living - meaning it's real. All of our food should be organic but that's not to world we live. Real food is often priced in favor of the elite, but I have some tips I hope we consider.

1. Read the labels of what you keep in yoir home
2. Go to farmer's markets and community gardens when accessible
3. Get fresh and frozen produce in lieu of cans when possible
4. When you have extra, share. Even small donations to local food pantries are impactful
