Thanks to a good long-range forecast, increasing ground temperatures and street sweeping
progress, Community Services Director Lane Berg, in accordance with authority granted by the
City code of ordinances, has issued an order suspending Alternate Side Parking restrictions in
the City of Eau Claire effective today through May 1, 2024. Parking will now be permitted on
both sides of the street until November 1, 2024, except in those locations where permanent or
temporary parking restrictions are posted or marked.

The City has historically used the parking restrictions to conduct an extensive city-wide street cleaning operation to remove debris from roadsides and gutters, preventing it from entering our storm drains and polluting our rivers. These operations are near completion and normal street
sweeping will continue through the summer and into fall.

And so it begins. 

I noticed Tulips popping up yesterday from their “voles cages”, about 3 weeks earlier than anticipated. 
I responded with equal parts delight and panic. 😍😬

This past winter has been odd, strange weather.
Very little snow and precipitation, much warmer than normal temperatures.
It’s left me with an uncomfortable, unsettled feeling deep in my gut.

Even the natural world itself seems confused and off kilter.
The rhythms and patterns I once knew are no longer true. 

I’ve felt/heard the still quiet voice preparing me for an unusual and challenging season. 
Yet, I’m not afraid because I know how to weather storms like this. 

I’m preparing my mind for surrender and flexibility. 
This is how we make it through the storm. 
By becoming pliant, elastic, resilient, fluid, adjustable. 

Now that the Tulips are coming up, it’s time to remove the mesh covers we placed over the Tulip beds to keep the voles 🐁 and squirrels 🐿️from eating the bulbs over the winter. There’s no snow on the ground, so the barn cats and farm dogs can hunt the voles and help protect our plants. 

We will remove the mesh and gradually remove the thick layer of leaves we piled on as insulation to keep them cool.

Then we'll put up temporary fencing enclosing the Tulip beds to keep the deer🦌 and rabbits 🐇 from eating the Tulips. 

Here we go... Tulip season is just around the corner. 💐
