Moments Monday! 🩵 Something Blue

We’re bringing a bit of brightness and cheer to these winter days with this photo from Trista Maja Photography. She was able to capture this perfect moment between the bride and groom showing off her bridal bouquet and royal blue pumps. The shoes along with the groom’s suit were the couple’s something blue and brought wonderful pops of color to their elopement at the Santa Barbara Courthouse.

Arnoldi’s Cafe Lake Como Room

The Lake Como Room features a hand-drawn mural of Lake Como done in 1959, showing where the Arnoldi family and the business owner of Arnoldi’s family migrated in Northern Italy to Santa
Barbara in the late 1800s, and where our current Italian family still resides and we love to visit often!

This room is great for semi-private events with up to 50 people including business meetings, holiday parties, rehearsal dinners, and even small wedding receptions. There is a room fee and a food minimum that varies for day of the week and time of year. It is considered semi-private because the door to the patio is at the end of the room, but it still gives a very private feel. There is also a giant frame TV available for client use and perfect for things like slide shows.

Hearing from friends, family, and clients about their homes or venues being burned down or displaced by the fires in Los Angeles weighs heavily on my heart. It's heartbreaking to know that our neighbors are facing such devastating challenges.

The scenes bring back vivid memories of our own community's struggle during the catastrophic fires and subsequent mudslides that changed Montecito forever seven years ago.

January 9, 2018 - a date etched in our collective memory. As we mark this solemn anniversary, I'm reminded of both the devastating loss and the incredible strength that emerged from those dark days.

Our wedding community, like so many others, rallied together in ways we never imagined possible.

I remember how wedding professionals became first responders in their own way - offering venues as evacuation spaces, coordinators turning into community organizers, caterers feeding emergency workers, and photographers documenting our community's resilience. We weren't just business owners; we were neighbors helping neighbors.

To our Los Angeles neighbors currently facing similar challenges - we see you, we understand your fear, and we stand ready to help. Our Santa Barbara/Montecito wedding community knows firsthand the importance of coming together during these times. Whether you need a safe space for upcoming events, vendor referrals, or simply someone who understands what you're going through - please reach out. We've been there, and we're here for you.

The mudslides taught us that in our darkest moments, community becomes everything. We learned that "competitor" is just another word for "colleague who becomes family when times get tough." Seven years later, these bonds remain stronger than ever.

Moments Monday ✨ Finishing touches

Brides always need a little bit of support on the morning of their wedding, both emotionally and in the form of hands-on help. Some of the most precious moments and best photos of the day come from the bridesmaids and mother of the bride helping her slip into her gown, clasp her accessories, and put on her veil which is exactly what’s happening in this image here by Pat Moyer Wedding Photographer & Films. After these finishing touches, the bride met her groom at their ceremony at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum and later enjoyed an outdoor reception on the venue’s lush grounds.

Adorable Santa Barbara Courthouse Elopement 🤍

Who says an elopement can’t have all the fun details of a traditional wedding? This bride and groom chose to get married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and ByCherry Photography was there to capture their special day for them. The bride carried a gorgeous bouquet by Hogue & Co. full of black-eyed anemones and pink and white roses. The two newlyweds made sure to enjoy a traditional wedding cake after their intimate ceremony officiated by Santa Barbara Classic Weddings.

While I watched the last sunset of 2024 paint our Santa Barbara skies in golden hues last night, I was filled with excitement about the revolutionary waves of change sweeping through our Santa Barbara wedding community and unique industry (and yes, I managed to run into wedding pros while squealing like a child at the dolphin show as if it is the first time I see this gleeful performance).
