Our Story
Let’s be Storytellers She told me, “You are the first person our age that I’ve heard say anything positive about marriage.” When Josh and I were planning to move home from Australia, we knew that we wanted to launch a wedding videography business. We recognized Josh’s talent with a camera and my organizational skills, and we knew we could build something great. As we continued to press forward to our launch date, we continually found ourselves asking, “Why?” Why do we want to film? Talent is important, but we knew we needed to know our “why” in order to press on. During the search for our “why” I found myself sitting with a bride during a consultation, and I was stunned. She told me, “You are the first person our age that I’ve heard say anything positive about marriage.”
I thought to myself, “Out of all the people I know that are currently married, no one has had anything positive to say? Why? Why is no one encouraging this bride-to-be, and why instead are so many people choosing to feed her jokes and negative experiences.” I was overwhelmed with the reality that our culture, even our church culture, thrives on jokes that are negative towards marriage. The “ole ball and chain” jokes or the overly sexist “wives submit” jokes. I believe that our words have power. Our words have the power to give life or to destroy. And although I love to joke around, I believe there needs to be a stronger emphasis on the beauty of marriage. In a world where marriage is dying in popularity, our desire is to encourage people about the joys of marriage, excite people about their future, and deliver beautiful videos that tell the story of our unique couples. We believe that our videos can be a tool used to strengthen marriages; to help remember the joy and excitement that is felt on the day they first said, “I Do.” We all have a story to tell. Let’s be storytellers.
