VIP Live Music: Classical Guitarist, Jeff Massanari, has performed with the San Francisco Symphony and appeared internationally at numerous jazz festivals. Jeff taught at UC Berkeley and has released four albums.

Rick Schaffer - Rick is a guitarist/vocalist in The Jangling Reinharts and will perform solo offering roots-rock music from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.

One of the unique treats of working and is the annual harvest of our estate grown Viognier and Cabernet Franc grapes for our 7 Lady Vineyards wines. Yesterday, Chad, Jeff, and Gator led the team in this joyous ritual as we picked the literal fruits of our labor from the South Block vines at Dover Hall to make our Cabernet Franc. If you can't wait to taste the 2024 vintage, grab the '22 Cabernet Franc "South Block" from our online wine store.

Wishing a happy six-year work anniversary to our Executive Chef, Leah Randolph. She started working in commercial kitchens at the age of 16, but it wasn’t until 2015 that her true passion for culinary arts was revealed. Chef Leah joined the Dover Hall team in 2018. After two years as the Sous Chef, she was promoted to Executive Chef due to her attention to detail, leadership in the kitchen, and, of course, her delicious food.

In 2023, only two years after becoming Executive Chef, the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association awarded Executive Chef Leah Randolph the prestigious title of 'Chef of the Year' at their Ordinary Award Ceremony! Comment your favorite culinary creations by Chef Leah below.

It's almost harvest time! On the Dover Hall property we grow Cabernet Franc and Viognier due to their repuation for being premium grown varieties in Virginia. These photos are from last year, right before we harvested!

Determining the right time to harvest wine grapes is crucial for producing high-quality wine. Here are some key factors and methods used to assess grape ripeness:

- Sugar Levels (Brix): The sugar content in grapes is measured in degrees Brix. Winemakers typically aim for a Brix level between 21-25 for optimal ripeness.

- Acidity: Acidity levels are crucial for balancing the wine's flavor. As grapes ripen, acidity decreases.

- pH Level: The pH level indicates the balance of acidity and is typically between 3.2 and 3.6 for ripe grapes.

- Taste and Texture: Tannins should be less astringent and more integrated. Winemakers often chew on grape seeds to check for a nutty taste rather than bitterness, indicating that the tannins have matured.
