The last of the garden went into this bouquet for Maddie. Maybe that fact is making me a little sentimental, but this palette might be my favorite.
The garden roses are just showing OFF with the cooler weather. Things have been slowing down around here, but we’ve been lucky to avoid a hard freeze so far. We won’t continue to be so lucky so I’ve been trying to soak up as much flower time as possible before it’s goodbye til next season. There’s still lots to do around here but we’re looking forward to a little break from garden work and a couple slower months.
Everyone enjoys the pond around here.
A fun, colorful bouquet for Chelsea 🌈 I was so excited to include the lavender sweet pea from my garden. It’s still kickin’ and Chelsea had several inspo pics with lavender sweet pea so I knew it was meant to be included in this design! Lots of other fun local product too - celosia, jewels of opar, snaps, & dahlias from my garden + russian sage, zinnias, & yarrow from @brownfarmstead @michiganflowerbarn
I’ll have lots of Lisianthus over the next couple of weeks! Available via the @michiganflowerbarn and by special request - message me.
🍉 goose
This week, Princess Carolyn (left) decided to ditch her nest full of eggs and frolic around all day in the nice weather. I don’t blame her… who wants to be trapped on a nest hatching eggs all day everyday?! I’m already attempting to hatch some inside so I took her eggs for the incubator, candled them all to check fertility, and gave her the duds so she wouldn’t be sad that I robbed the nest. She had 10 eggs in there! I couldn’t give up on them 🥺 Really hoping they didn’t get too cold without her and become non-viable 🤞🏼 we should start seeing some baby goslings soon!
Last summer I thought I’d try out a few watermelon plants. I had some space in the flower garden so I threw them in there. They grew like crazy! The geese soon discovered them and loved them instantly. The plants grew right next to the dahlias so, if the geese were ever trying to snack on a dahlia when following me out in the garden, I’d grab the ripest looking melon and throw it across the yard away from the dahlias. They’d take off running, slam the entire watermelon, and then have pink and red faces the rest of the day 😂 every.time.
These days I don’t have homegrown melon but occasionally I’ll get them one as a treat. This day was cold so they sat very sweetly (to protect their feet from the cold) and ate it together. I just love them 🥺
Soil blocking!
Anyone a DIE HARD soil-blocker -or- cell-trayer? Let me know why, I’m curious.
This is my first try at soil blocking. Started with some larkspur & stock today - cold-hardy annuals that’ll get planted out in early spring.
We asked if they wanted to take a Christmas trip to the pond & they BOOKED IT!
All of the birds got Christmas treats - the geese, a head of lettuce; the chickens, leftovers from the fridge (their fave 😂). The two new outdoor kitties had some raw eggs from the chickens & fancy freeze dried treats. And the indoor kitties got tuna breakfast, treats, and a new moving toy that’s been driving them crazy all morning 😅
Merry Christmas!

My bridal hairpiece! Made this with flowers from Whole Foods and supplies from your standard craft store. Made it work and it turned out sooo good! 😍
Michigan summerrrrr is here, or is it spring? Who knows?! Whatever it is, I’m diggin’ the 🌞 This weekend is the first wedding of the year, the chickens arrive sometime this week, and the geese arrive next week. We’ve been busting @$$ getting veggie and flower seedlings in the ground, trellising, planting bare root roses, starting succession seeds indoors, etc etc - the to-do list never seems to end. We’re revving up for a busy summer season & loving every second of it! 💪🏼
I think this is my favorite bouquet to date. I’m always drawn to vibrant, saturated colors & some nice bouncy movement 💫
Hawaii was absolutely wonderful and we miss it, but there was something special about coming back to our home and this beautiful land. We moved here at beginning of fall last year, so this will be the first year we’ll experience all four seasons here. The weather we’re having this weekend is amazing and we’ve been outside soaking every bit up. I’ve been having a little too much fun whizzing around the yard and trails on the ATV. Fun fact - my dad taught me to drive this ATV when I was just barely a teenager. It’s 17 years old and runs like a dreammmmm. My dad had sold it to my uncle, who barely used it and agreed to sell it to us. Crazy how things come full circle - the ATV I learned to drive on will be our farmhand for years to come! Vroom vroooooom lesssgooooo!
