How to Pay Negative Fees (Make Money) by Selling Your Tickets Using Ticketor

Obviously, as any other service, selling tickets to your event involves some costs. There are 2 main sources of costs when it comes to ticketing:

1- Ticketing website/service:

To issue, sell and validate your tickets, you need to have a ticketing website or service. People will use that service to reserve their tickets and make payments.

2- Payment processing:

Any transaction with a credit card or bank accounts involves some payment processing fees. This fee is usually collected by the payment processor or services such as PayPal.

How much?
So the question is how much is the total cost?

The total cost really varies by the service provider. Some service providers and ticketing websites, charge 25% to 40% of the ticket price. Some others charge 15% to 20%.

This charge is basically to cover the transaction fee, building and maintaining ticketing service and website and to pay the staff that create and upload your events and tickets.

Ticketor vs Eventbrite

Ticketor and Eventbrite are both great ticketing and box-office systems and are used for event ticketing. Event organizer are often confused which one to choose and often make uninformed decisions that may significantly affect the success and outcome of their event and their revenue. A decision that may cost or affect their bottom-line revenue by over 30%!

This article is written in response to many event organizers who frequently reach out to us and ask us to compare Ticketor with Eventbrite. In this article, we try to shed some light on the differences and to answer questions like:

- Why Eventbrite is more popular and well-known?
- How much Eventbrite is more expensive and why? And if it is justifiable?
- Which one has features that I need?
- Which one helps me sell more tickets?
- Does the Eventbrite’s marketing platform help me sell more tickets?

However, we do not like to single out a specific provider in this article and so we are going to write this article in a general manner to compare public ticketing systems ad marketplaces like Eventbrite or Ticketmaster and a private ticketing platform like Ticketor. As a result, some points mentioned in this article may or may not apply to Eventbrite or a specific ticketing provider, but it will be informative enough that the reader can get the answer to their questions and make an informative decision. Only for comparing the cost, as both Ticketor and Eventbrite publish their prices publicly online, we are actually going to do the math to show the differences in cost between the 2 platforms.

For full transparency, this article is written by a Ticketor affiliate, however, we try to be very fair and accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time of writing this article. Integrating Ticketor with Your Site

If you already have a website, you may want to integrate ticketing into your website. It can be done by posting a link, a button or embedding your ticketing page into your website as an iframe or pop-up.

Ticketor supports all common integration methods and you can integrate Ticketor into any site, regardless of the technology or provider. You can use Ticketor with WordPress sites or any other type of sites.

All these methods easily work with Ticketor.

However, one of the greatest advantages of Ticketor is that it is also a website builder and CMS (content management system). It allows your organization to have one integrated website and system for all their online presence and needs including a website, event ticketing and marketing, online store and merchandise sales, donation collection, newsletter system and much more.

So, you can manage and report everything from a single website and users can use all your services from a single site and using a single account. For example, they can buy tickets and merchandise and make donations all in a single transaction and they can pay for everything using a gift-card that a friend purchased for them from your site and at the same time, they can join your newsletter or opt-in to receive text messages. This level of integration is not possible if you are using different systems for different purposes.

Also, you won’t have the hassle of handling and working with multiple system for your website, ticketing, store-online, donation, marketing, CRM (customer relation manager), and newsletters.

Moving Your Ticketor Site to Your Domain

The address of your Ticketor site is by default www.Ticketor.com/[Your Business Name] and every page, event or product you add to the site will have an address that starts with this address.

However, for a fully branded, white-label experience, you can move the site to your own domain like MyBusiness.com or a subdomain like ticket.MyBusiness.com, or BoxOffice.MyBusiness.com or any other subdomain.

To move the site to your domain, you should first own the domain or purchase your desired domain from a domain registrar of your choice such as GoDaddy.com

The domain or sub-domain is just a name that can point to a certain server. To have Ticketor on your domain or sub-domain, you should point your domain or sub-domain to Ticketor’s server and so when the users browse to that domain or subdomain, they will be served from Ticketor’s server.

Obviously, each domain or subdomain can only point to one server and you cannot have 2 servers on one domain or subdomain

If you do not have any website on your domain or you want to replace your existing website with your Ticketor website, you can point your domain to Ticketor and have your domain load your Ticketor site. It will simply replace any potential existing site on your domain.

However, if your domain is already used for a website and you want to keep it that way, you can use Ticketor on a sub-domain of your choice such as [any name]. MyBusiness.com

Note that when you point the domain to Ticketor’s server, all your email addresses in that domain or sub-domain are also handled by Ticketor and you can create and manage email addresses from you Control Panel > Account & Settings > Site Settings. However, if you want to use another system or your existing email provider, that can also be done by setting your MX records. Contact your support engineer for help with that.

Adding Content and Pages to Your Site and Top Navigation

Introduction to Ticketor's pages
Your site consists of several pages. Pages on your site are of different origins.

1- Auto-Generated Content Pages
Some of the pages are generated based on the items you add to the site. For example, when you add an event or merchandise, a page is automatically generated for that item. The page is generated with a dedicated, SEO (Search engine) friendly URL (address) that can be posted on social media or messaging apps and can be linked to from other sites or they can be embedded inside other sites or pages.

For example, https://www.ticketor.com/demo/tickets/a-kids-show-1323 is the URL to the dedicated page for the “Kids Show” on our demo site. The URL is very user-friendly and SEO friendly and includes both the name of the site or business, “demo”, and the name of the event, “A Kids Show”.

Note: You can also create a more user-friendly short-link for your events. For example, you can create ticketor.com/demo/KidsShow or YourDomain.com/KidsShow as a short link that is easier to announce, type and remember.

2- Management and Utility Pages
These are the pages that are automatically included in your site, most of them accessible from the top menu and are used by the users to manage their orders and accounts. Pages such as the Checkout page, My account page, My Orders Page, Cookie Manager page, Print My Tickets page, etc.

You cannot add or remove those pages.

22/04/2024

Designing Your Ticketor Site

Designing the site means selecting themes and colors for your overall site, uploading a logo and determining design that is going to affect your whole site and all pages.

Using the designer tool in Ticketor, you can create almost any design or site that you may imagine or you can match the site to have the same look and feel as another site or your official site.

Even if you are integrating or embedding ticketing to an existing site, you should still use the designer tool to make the site have the same feel and look as your other site and upload your logos and background pictures.

You can launch the designer tool from Control Panel > Account & Settings > Design . You can follow the wizard for basic settings or skip the Wizard to go to the main panel.

The main panel opens up on your page so you can immediately see the effect of the changes you make on the page. You can navigate to other pages to see the effect on all pages.

All changes to this panel are automatically saved and applied and do not require saving. You can use Ctrl+Z for undoing.

Important note: Usability is More Important Than the Look

The most important consideration when designing a site is usability.

You don’t want to ever sacrifice usability for the sake of design or beauty of your site. Here are a few points you want to pay extra attention to:

Color contrast: Your text color and background color should have enough contrast to be easily readable, not only by a healthy eye, but also by disabled users.

Mobile friendliness. Always consider mobile and small display use-cases when designing the site. Try to avoid big paddings and margins around the page that will make the area for the main content so small. Also try to avoid 2 or multi-column designs as they may not fit on small screens as you expect.

Word-of-the-mouth marketing (Share & Earn)

Increase your sales by over 30%

One the most powerful marketing tools that has the potential to increase your sales by over 30% and make your event go viral, is the Share & Earn marketing feature.

If an individual is interested in your event and has purchased tickets to it, most likely he knows friends and family members who may also be interested in the event or they can influence them into buying tickets.

What makes them go the extra way to share your event with them or push them to participate in the event? A small commission is the key.

The Share & Earn feature allows you to set some commission, either a percentage or fixed amount per ticket sold. It can be set in your Site Settings page.

That is all you have to do on your side. Everything else is taken care of automatically, with no effort on your side.

When an individual purchases a ticket, they get a section on their confirmation page and confirmation email, explaining the feature with a group of “Share” buttons that allow them to share their trackable link on social media or share it through text, Messenger or WhatsApp.

45 Unbelievable Facts About Ticketor's Unbeatable Pricing

When it comes to ticketing, pricing and fees are not the main factors for decision making. The most important factors are probably reliability, ease of use and features. However, pricing and fees are also important factors.

There are systems out there that charge 20% to 40% and so are so expensive for the event organizer or the buyer. Such systems will significantly reduce your sale or bite into your profit.

There are other systems that sound less expensive, but have so much hidden fees and they Nickle and Dime you for everything. You will never know your actual cost until you use the system.

Some others are limited in features and so some day-to-day activities such as returning a ticket, exchanging tickets or creating a seating chart needs to be done by their agents and so cost money and extra time.

What if we tell you that Ticketor is an event ticketing and box-office system that offers all the benefits together. Highly reliable, very easy and intuitive for you and for the buyer, super featureful, and unbelievably affordable with predictable pricing and no hidden fees.

If you have used other ticketing systems, the following facts about Ticketor may be a big surprise to you.

45 of the best Ticketor Pricing Facts:

Did you know that Ticketor offers a Premium plan with no flat fee per ticket that only charges 2.5% (+ $0.00) of the ticket price? That is just a quarter ($0.25) on a $10.00 ticket! How much can you save?

Does your ticketing system refund your fees when you refund tickets? Did you know that Ticketor gives you credit for the fees when you refund tickets or cancel events? Most other providers don't do that or charge you extra for refunds.

Does your ticketing company increase your rates every year? When you are all vested in the system and it is so hard and expensive to switch? Ticketor has never raised its prices on our existing clients. NEVER.

When do you receive the ticket sales money? After the event? With Ticketor, you can use your own payment processor or PayPal, or simply get a payment processor during the setup, and you will receive the sales money directly as you sell, before the event.

How easy is with your ticketing company to change plans or cancel the account? Do you need a new quote? Do you need to call? With Ticketor you can change your plan or cancel your account at any time from your dashboard.

Gate Control & e-Ticket Validation

Goal:
The purpose of gate control is to validate tickets at the gate and admit valid tickets to your event. It should be fast, professional and able to accurately distinguish valid, invalid and duplicated tickets. The faster the process, the shorter the wait time at the door and the more organized the event.

Traditional methods:
Traditionally, tickets are printed in a print-shop on regular papers. Since most of these tickets lack secure duplicate prevention methods, they are subject to fraud. They can easily be copied and duplicated, using any color printer and copier.

Unlike traditional tickets, e-tickets are more secure and protected by securely generated barcodes that makes duplicating them very hard if not impossible.

Concept:
An e-ticket with secure barcode generated by TicketorTo accomplish the ticket validation goals, each e-ticket generated by Ticketor has a securely generated numeric barcode and QR code. The numeric value for the barcode is also printed right beneath the barcode.

In simple terms, the gate keeper is responsible to check this numeric value against a list of all valid codes for the event and as each e-ticket is used, check the code off the list.

Ticket Delivery - Options and Considerations

When it comes to selling tickets online, one concern is how and when the buyer is going to get the tickets and how the event organizer can provide fast, easy, reliable and cost effective methods for ticket delivery.

The most common delivery methods are:

· E-Tickets (Buyer prints their tickets at home)

· Digital Tickets (Buyer has the ticket on their smartphone)

· Will-Call (Buyer picks up their tickets at the venue or other designated places)

· Mail (Buyer receives their tickets in mail)

Ticketor fully supports all these delivery methods. The event organizer should offer a couple methods to make sure it is convenient for all buyers. The offered methods can change from event to event and from time to time. For example, you can offer “Mail” for early buyers, while last-minute buyers won’t have the option. Or you can add or remove a delivery method at any time during the sale.

How to create recurring events, classes or booking system with time-slots, using Ticketor

Recurring events with time-slots, which may recur several times a day, are very common type of events and are vastly used for any event, class, booking, renting or registration that is time-based.

Some common use-cases are:

Admission to a museum, amusement park, or a show
Reserving time for an attraction or activity
Registration for a class or training such as sport, yoga, arts, dance, music, etc
Holiday shows
Movie theaters and cinemas
Transportation (buses, ferries, …)
Tour reservation
Drive through events and shows like holiday lightshows

However, most ticketing systems miss this functionality and the event organizers usually end up using work-arounds that are often not optimal or confusing. Some common issues when using such work-arounds to create timed-events are:

Event showing the wrong date or time during the purchase or on the ticket which causes confusion to the buyer
Hard to manage all instances of the event or individual instances
Hard to pull reports or perform ticket validation
