Dragon-inspired, Raku-fired art
I have long desired to start an art business but never thought I had a product worth sharing. And, wanted to do it with my lovely wife. I work with art students during the day in a high school setting and after a full day of looking at and talking about art I have often not found the time or the energy to create work outside of that environment. However, ever since college, I have been intrigued by the process of Raku firing and have created several pieces using the technique, throughout the years. I thought it was time to see what a Dragon Egg would look like using the technique, as I am also an avid fan of the Song of Ice and Fire series/ adapted by HBO as Game of Thrones. Suffice it to say, I was very impressed with the results of the first piece and felt confident I could recreate that success with several other pieces, if people showed interest. I am looking at you my fellow Renaissance festival goin’, dice rollin’, role playin’, deck wieldin’ fantasy enthusiast. For without you there would be no Mother of Dragons or Hobbits or Orcs or dragon treasures or eggs. So I hope the Dragon’s heart beating softly within this vessel compels you and you decide to give it a proper home. And just remember this, if you ever have the choice between being a dragon and not being a dragon...be a dragon. Because they breathe fire and we don’t. And you got to admit. That is way cool! Or hot! And that just depends on the kind of dragon breathing at the time.
