The Lowcountry Wedding Guy The Wedding Guy is a State of South Carolina wedding officiant, licensed state-wide. Code of Laws §20-1-20. Same-sex couples are more than welcome.
(12)

As a state-commissioned Notary Public for the State of South Carolina, I am granted the ability to perform weddings, pursuant to S.C. Furthermore, as an ordained minister on good standing with the Universal Life Church, I am also able to perform weddings in the State of Georgia. I was married by a notary, and felt a calling to help other couples in need of an officiant to make their wedding dreams

a reality. I got accustomed to speaking in front of groups as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. While I am perfectly comfortable doing large, extravagant weddings, my specialty is in smaller, intimate, low-key weddings, weddings on a budget, Scottish/Celtic weddings, and out-of-the ordinary/out-of-the-box weddings with a theme. I offer a laid-back & friendly yet professional service, at a price point that allows you to have the ceremony you want while saving money to spend on other aspects of your wedding. Let's work together to make your vision a reality.

Do not....I repeat...DO NOT BE THESE PEOPLE. I have been very blessed to not have to work with any Bridezilla, Groomzilla, or Couplezilla types because while I'm pretty easy to deal with and pretty flexible and accommodating, I have zero problem telling someone where to go. Might sound like bad business to some of you but I refuse to deal with unreasonable entitled demands.

"I noticed when my bridesmaid turned her head that she's got quite a number of gray hairs. I mentioned this to her and suggested dyeing it before my big day. She refused. It's really unsightly, and I'm worried it's going to take away from the beauty of the dress I chose for her."

There's a reason why fall is prime wedding time here in the Lowcountry. Friday may have been murky and rainy, but Saturday was just gorgeous down on St Helena Island for Cory and Nick. We had an absolute blast and I even got to speak a little German with the bride's Oma and Mutter (that's grandma and mother!)

Doing weddings is a blast. It's doubly so when I get to do a wedding for a former wedding professional who for some crazy reason hand picked me to do her ceremony. Congratulations to Kelsey and Mike who had a beautiful day last Saturday once the morning sprinkles went away. Thanks for letting me be the one to tie your knot!

I know....the Wedding Guy has been SLACK! I havent been uploading pictures of my weddings like I usually do. It's time to rectify that

For the past 8 years I've been performing weddings as a side hustle.
Why? Because it's fun, and I'm actually quite good at it. Not everyone can stand in front of a group of strangers and perform such a momentous task. No, it's not brain surgery or rocket science. but it's not always the easiest thing to do. Folks are counting on me to be the consummate professional without being a robotic functionary.

In many cases, I've married people I already knew as friends or as friends of their parents. A couple of my couples have been related to me through marriage. But the vast majority have been perfect strangers who entrusted me with legally binding them together as a married couple. I don't do it to get rich; I'd have to charge 5 to 10 times what I do per wedding for it to be a full-time operation. In fact, I am most often the LEAST expensive part of putting a wedding together when you look at the cost of the venue, the catering, the cake, the DJ, the photographer, the planner/coordinator, etc., and yet without the officiant making it legal all you did was throw a very expensive party. A prom where the king and queen are already chosen.

(I don't post my rates here on my page because that's between you and me, not the general public. Some folks come to a page looking strictly for the cheapest, and I am not the cheapest. Nor am I the most expensive, either. I will say however that experience matters, you get what you pay for, and that I am lower in cost than whom I feel my closest peers are locally.)

Again, I do it because it's fun. I get to meet a lot of really great people and be a key part of what is ostensibly the happiest day of their lives, or at least one of the happiest. I get to dress like an adult, something I don't get to do very often due to my day job. Plus, I get to feed my inner attention w***e for a few minutes.

I've made cool new friends among the ranks of fellow wedding professionals in one of the top wedding markets in the nation. But afterwards, if I'm lucky, I also get to keep up with my couples as they progress in their marriages. I get to see them have kids and buy houses. Some couples already had kids and I get to see them grow up and do cool things, like a fun Uncle without having to be invited to Thanksgiving dinner. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be entrusted with the heady responsibility of being a professional and getting your ceremony right. So, thank you to all my past couples and to all my future ones.
As my tagline says:
It's your wedding; I just make it happen.

It occurred to me that I have an absolute butt load of pictures from weddings I need to upload to the page. Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend!

Well, I could have told you this, easily. And last year, I was chosen to be a couple's officiant for an upscale destination wedding over someone they had originally seen in The Knot. Look, The Knot doesn't care if a vendor is any good, or reliable. If a vendor is listed in The Knot it's because THEY PAID TO BE LISTED. It's advertising, not a recommendation.

Former employees and current wedding vendors are speaking out about alleged shady dealings at The Knot.

Okay, grooms. Listen up. You're marrying your wife, not your mom. It's fine for your mom to help plan, but this is YOUR wedding, and YOUR WIFE'S wedding, not your Mom's. She had her day, or even days. This is your wife's day. Do not be this dude. Sack up and defend your wife or some other dude will and you'll be living with mom again.

Thankfully I have never had a true Bridezilla, nor have I ever had a bride or couple so disagreeable that I have felt the need to cancel and disassociate myself from their nuptials. But, I beg of y'all, don't be like this. Just....don't.

A bit about me.

Hey there! Welcome to the Facebook home of Steve Kalinowski, The Lowcountry Wedding Guy. As a state-commissioned Notary Public for the State of South Carolina, I am granted the ability to perform weddings, pursuant to S.C. Code of Laws §20-1-20. I was married by a notary, and felt a calling to help other couples in need of an officiant to make their wedding dreams a reality. I really enjoy what I do. I get to meet new people all the time and hang out with them on one of the biggest days of their lives. I got accustomed to speaking in front of groups as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. I spent my first couple of years working for the US Customs Service in Germany and one of my duties was giving briefings to rooms full of soldiers who were processing into the country. While I am perfectly comfortable doing large, extravagant weddings, my specialty is in smaller, intimate, low-key weddings, weddings on a budget, Scottish/Celtic weddings, and I adore out-of-the ordinary/out-of-the-box weddings with a theme. Same-sex couples are more than welcome. I offer a laid-back & friendly yet professional service, at a price point that allows you to have the ceremony you want while saving money to spend on other aspects of your wedding.
