👩🏻‍🌾🧑‍🌾👨‍🌾🌻After a day at the Ranch and garden picking, we created a refreshing black cherry basil and lime mocktail and Korean cold noodle dish that even the self acclaimed “worst cooks” can easily make at home. 🌟

This one stores great in the fridge too so it’s a great summer fridge dish that is easily portable to work, a hike or just when coming in from a hot day.

Those cherry tomatoes are like candy right now and so are the peaches that we served for dessert.

We started our time together with an hour of sound bath, flute, drumming, chymes, chanting and gongs all provided by (an out of body experience) and a special offering of her hand made sourdough with cheddar and jalapeno for a literal sharing bread together. 🙌🙌🙌🪘🥁🎶 Incredible experiences - all of it!

A special visit with Balpha Noojin Byzantine icon artist and sculptor, and owner of the Cliff House really elevated the evening. We admired his work that he brought with him, St Anne, and sat out on the screened porch with cool mountain air and the sound of the falls (that wall is 900 million years old) sitting over a sacred Cherokee healing ground and a natural energy vortex. To say this is a special retreat would be short changing it. I am truly honored to be part of this.🙏🌸🍃

🍑Breakfast at the Cliff House in Mentone for the Regenerative retreat. Orange yogurt and 🍯honey baked granola with local peaches, banana boats and nut butter filled dates, almond bread with coconut cream and berries, freshly breed coffee… a dharma talk, a meditation with thoughts of Thich Nhat Hahn and Jack Kornfield with a yoga session to stretch 🧘‍♀️🧘🏻🧘‍♂️ and feel vibrant. Thank you

Then off to the 🐑Ranch (Rolling Pasture Ranch) where Russ lead us on a tour and interaction with the sheep, chicken (the new born chick was so cute!🐣), pullets, goats, guardian dogs and garden tour with seed samples sent home with anyone interested - and everyone was! 🧑‍🌾👩🏻‍🌾👨‍🌾🌻

We picked garden veggies than will appear in our interactive dinner coming up! My gosh, this is so joyful - a day of inspired talks, reminders of what is truly important and connection - to ourselves, one another, our food, our land, our bodies. 🍃🍃🍃

Because this is what Friendship is all about!

Katie Jett called me wanting a Private Chef for a 40th Birthday celebration. She and her husband live in TN now but their supper club in Alabama has deep roots!

So a beautiful Private Chef event in Spanish fort full of local favorite flavors was created just for them!

🍑Peach and corn salsa over gooey Brie and Bleu cheese crostini made a lovely and delicious start - as an extra touch, we had at pair wine to all of the courses. The feedback we get for Private Chef is that the party is nice and intimate in their own home but without meal plan, prep or clean up, the addition of wine pairing is one more big add - you tell us the price point, I’ll send Christina the custom menu and she will pair the wine and have it ready for pick up! Done!

A minted potato salad paired with a fun peel and eat shrimp was the main course and is always our go-to for worchestire sauce and olive oils! A beautiful buttermilk green goddess dressed the garden salad. 🥗

Not only did do an amazing job as the Private Chef for this event but she 🙌 hand baked the bread - an extremely important component of this meal because the New Orleans Style peel and eat shrimp has a sauce that would be criminal not to sop bread in!! Katie always goes above and beyond and oozes with positive energy at how much fun it is for her to be part of events. She is simply amazing! 💞 Thank you Katie Jett for trusting us with your big night and thank you Katie Wiggins for making it all happen so smoothly!🥳🥳🥳

Our Mentone regenerative retreat has begun, overlooking the Desoto Falls, with the glorious rushing sounds in full effect and complimented further by the ancient flute and guitar music by during our welcome fire ceremony guided by and Brenda with intention setting. The gentleness these women guide with in this vortex of healing energy is palpable. This is special, very special. 💞🍃🌀

I loved nurturing the guests with a light welcome meal, a garden gazpacho (my mother’s recipe- one to hand down for generations) with my addition of avocado. A shrimp ceveche and cool watermelon side with chat mahala popcorn and an almond cake with maple coconut cream and freestone peaches.

It’s a privilege to be able to be part of such extraordinary work, thank you Sal and Brenda and our wonderful guests for this time together… we’ve only just begun. 🍃🍃🍃

The two things money can’t buy… love and home grown tomatoes🍅 and the heart space that comes with it all.

This coming weekend we will be offering the generative retreat with deep sound healing and soothing movement in Mentone with a morning spent on the Ranch. Early morning 🧘‍♀️🧘🏻Yoga in the barn, with views of pastures and sheep grazing, dharma walk 🍃and 🌻garden picking with a nurturing interactive cooking experience with me Saturday evening using the ingredients we’ve picked. 🧺

We will collectively use our yellow and red cherry tomatoes and herbs (basil and mint) from the garden to make a Korean cold noodle dish with chick pea pasta for a delightful communal cooking and shared time of eating together.

Ease and flow… cooking can be very yogic, we touch the plants and connect with them, saying a grateful thanks to the aroma and visual gifts, under the blue sky and puffy white clouds, breathing in all of that fresh air - connecting to breath and grounding to earth and soil. Smiling at one another as we literally delight in the garden and then again in the kitchen, then the table, smiling and sparkling eyes that say I’m so glad to be here and spend time with you.

There’s are so many small moments to express joy, and at a retreat we get to compound that joy. I am so looking forward to this weekend.🥗💞🧘‍♀️🥁🪘

💞💞💞What a love story! He fell in love with Haley at first sight, literally! Six years later they are getting married and their story is inspiring and gives me a huge smile and happy chills to go with it!

🤍Her friends and family are so very happy for her and her shower was so much fun - an interactive Brunch for the bunch where they created mocktails, Shakshuka, Dutch Babies with hand picked 🫐berries and candied bacon.

What an adventure and thank you Patty (Haley’s Mom) for trusting me for your event and bringing so much joy to my life too!

Things that form us… Emery (my daughter) felt called to Portugal years ago, she followed that yearning, her art developed, lifelong friendships developed and a love of Portuguese food developed. It all spirals forward into her life now and it’s so inspiring to be around her and to see how rich her life is as she weaves those experiences into her every day life.

was her recommendation for dinner, a Portuguese restaurant full of authentic flavors and charm, we enjoyed an amazing salmon crudo, endive salad with smoked paprika and oranges (beyond delicious!) and the house special cuttlefish (again, amazing!) and a dessert almond cake were as brilliant, multifaceted in flavor and sensory experience as her life!

I like to say there’s a lot of ways to spend a dollar, Emery noted yesterday that there’s a lot of ways to spend our minutes. 💞

I flew out to LA yesterday, flights got messed up, I watched my connecting flight pull away 5 minutes early which made me 5 hours late for my destination but something very interesting happened throughout… my mind stayed pleasant, saying this is protecting you from something and leading to a greater good. 🌸

I ended up sitting next to an inspiring fellow on the next flight out to Burbank, he told me his story of entrepreneurial success and the choices that come after the success, how he is demonstrating and encouraging his kids to get out there and take a chance in life, he was positive, he had not lost his enthusiasm for life or his internal set of values in the fast lane. He was inspiring and fun to be near.

This morning, I read about the Four locks, the four keys to life, and I’m thinking this is the key!

1. Friendly towards the happy.
Seems like a no brainer, right? I see someone smiling and happy, I respond with happy, a nod or smile OR my mind can go to “ what’s he so happy about? “ what does he have that I don’t? A promotion, more money, they got the flight ✈️etc which way do you go?🥺

2. Compassion towards the unhappy. Again, seems straight forward but am I okay sitting next to someone struggling and not try to fix it. I personally struggle with this one, I strive to sit alongside someone struggling and just hold space for them.

3. Delight in people’s virtues
If my friend and I decide to eat better and she succeeds and I don’t, can I be happy for her success?! (or if someone makes their flight, and I don’t!) If I can be truly happy for her, my mind will calm and I can recommit!

4. Disregard the wicked.
Suppose my flight pulls out before departure time, 😤I’m supposed to smile and be nice? I could have been eaten up with anger but a helpful agent helped me rebook my flight, a fellow passenger enriched my life and I’m in California safe and sound and a little richer for the whole experience!

“Let your address be sunshine place…🎶 I start believin, in believin…”

Hiiii! ☀️I’m in beautiful California visiting my daughter - growing my heart, menu ideas and a 💡lovely recognition of patterns. The first photo is a meal I had in Alabama before I left - white bean hummus, pickled red onions, beet and turmeric kraut, shrimp salad and garden tomatoes and acv cucumber salad with zinnias on the table and a hibiscus tea.

The second two photos were my first meal in LA, my daughter recommended it, she knows my taste! A hummus and falafel plate, pickled radishes and turnip, marinated cabbage & onions, olives and sumac rice with a rosemary lemonade. ☺️ ( )

I love travel and collecting flavors and ideas and bringing it home - more deliciousness to come!!

Lauren Beeker (Follow her at The Apres Sea Collective or [email protected]) approached us with her idea for a collaboration, she thought a pilates class paired with a healthy and beachy board build would be fun, and she was right! I especially enjoyed a call from someone interested in the class who wanted to bring her spouse, she thought it would be a good way to introduce him to pilates and the board build got his attention! Date night ✔️✔️💞

Katie and I love collaborations and Katie used lots of delicious oils and vinegars from in this class, it’s always fun to incorporate as much local fun as possible! Contact us if you’ve got an idea, I bet it’s a good one!

We all need a little sweetness… I’m finding ways to sweeten the sweet in a way that’ll make us feel good!

1 cup of dates
1 cup of walnuts
1/2 dried cherries
2 T coconut sugar (lower glycemic index that white sugar)
1 T ground flaxseed
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon

Whirl it all together in a food processor, play your favorite music 🎶😉, form into balls and press down with a fork. Refrigerate 2 hours before serving, no bake, so now you’ve got time to get outside and take a walk!

In Mentone?! We’ve got a great high vibe group signed up already with just a few more openings for you…!

If you’ve been on the fence, now is the time. Mentone is a charming little artsy town where we will offer the retreat with open time for exploring, shopping or booking additional time with Sally for massage or with for additional sound healing.

What makes this retreat unique? My gosh, the depth of knowledge of the instructors, the vortex energy of the Cliff house which is central operations of the retreat, the beautiful nourishing food (so often the food aspect is overlooked in a retreat - I will nourish you from deep within with sensory pleasing locally grown foods) and we will also offer a highly unique morning at Rolling Pastures Ranch where you can enjoy orchard picking, zinnia gardens, sheep pastures, chickens and goats after a soothing yoga session and dharma talk with Sally, Brenda and myself.

Black bean burgers, beefsteak tomatoes and butterflies… all in a days work.🍃

Black bean burgers made with oats, beans, mushrooms and tahini are a definite win. 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️Raise your hand if you’d like a class on plant forward meals that are all about flavor and fresh ingredients!

And if you were lucky enough to have a 🦋👐👐👐land on you today it could be telling you something! According to The Land World, some Native American tribes believe that a butterfly landing on you signifies joy or may be a harbinger of change. No matter what, it’s a blessing to enjoy!

🌸Summer is all about cold salads and easy meals to me… a cold cucumber salad (see website for recipe) or this minted potato salad see below, both keep well in the fridge and will keep you cool!

These are both great for using up all those veggies abundant in the garden right now, particularly the cucumbers for a cucumber salad and that mint that is as hearty as they come! Mint in a pot helps keep it contained and I highly recommend that!🪴

Minted potato salad:
In a shallow wide dish, mix together 2/3 c olive oil, 1/4 c red wine vinegar, 1-2 cloves of garlic (depending how garlicky you like it), 1/2 chopped red onion and 1 cup of mint leaves and 1/2 cup frozen peas (they’ll thaw). Stir to combine.

Boil 2 cups of small red potatoes until tender in salted water. Drain and slice in half when cool enough to handle, place in dressing while still warm, cover and allow to sit several hours, tossing occasionally.
Serve at room temperature and keep in fridge up to a week.

Enjoy summer and add ease and enjoyment to every day!

My favorite messy morning activity!

Red cabbage and beet sauerkraut.

🙌Sliced red cabbage massaged with salt, grated beet, carrot, turmeric, cumin, and garlic grated in too. Massage again and pack into a sterilized mason jar. A few days in a cool dark place and you’ve got the prettiest sauerkraut - life is messy - and that’s okay!

Stay cool with this crunchy creamy yogurt buttermilk soup…like its cousin, gazpacho, a great nod to summer vegetables! This one is cucumber and pepper based instead of tomato and the addition of yogurt and buttermilk give it a vichyssoise like consistency.😋

A great way to use up those seasonal garden veggies and a cooling lunch for when you come in out of the summer heat!

These are the things money can’t buy… the splendor of a juicy summer 🍑peach and the pop of freshly shucked silver queen corn🌽. 🤗 I’m combining them for a summer salsa like no other. The full recipe is on my website under toppings, it’s a combination of peaches, corn, serrano, cilantro, red onion and a little honey and lots of lime juice. I’m putting it on melted Brie nachos and it’s also terrific on your summer fish or shrimp tacos. 🌶️Tell me what you are using it on… I love hearing from you!

🍳Brunch Class! Always extra special when it’s visitors to Fairhope, these Oklahoman pals came for their vaca and they are a fun bunch! Watch for them at bingo tomorrow and welcome them to town! I’m quite sure you’ll see them at lots of our other local favorite stops too!

They’ve also started their own venture and the guys are the muscle behind the scenes while the girls run the front of the store. 🛍️

We had loads to talk about as they made Shakshuka, rosemary grapefruit mocktails, maple glazed bacon and berry filled Dutch Baby!👨‍🍳👩‍🍳 Welcone to Fairhope, have a great stay!

🥳When it comes to love and family, Stacey Howell celebrates BIG, she is big 💞hearted and she loves to gather all things beautiful, especially family.

Last nights family gathering featured her eldest sons glass work and younger sons wood vase (the talent!), a family home on Fowl River, edible take away 🍄‍🟫mushroom centerpieces and delicious food as her family gathered with home made bourbon and a Birthday menu designed by and myself. The only guidance she gave us was… “just shine, both of you!”. So we did! 🙌🌸🍄🥒

We started with appetizers… homemade bread (thank you ) with bleu cheese, cherries, walnuts and 🍯honey. Tanner brought along his gardenia infused honey and we used it throughout the menu! 😋I brought along garden grown dragons egg 🥒cucumbers with salmon mousse, and Brie with Chilton county peaches and silver corn salsa. 🌸Edible zinnias and marigolds made everything bright!
Thank you for pairing all the courses with beautiful Spanish, Italian and Burgundy wines and bubbly!

For dinner 🍄Tanner created a chanterrelle and oyster mushroom linguine with gulf shrimp scampi. I added fresh sides of yellow and red tomatoes with 🍃garden herb green goddess dressing, snap 🫛peas with lemon and mint, and a ginger serrano corn. 🌽

😃Dessert was a build your own vanilla pound cake bar with toppings, and not just any toppings!Tanner made 🫐blueberry gardenia sauce, creme fraiche, homemade vanilla gelato and 🍑peach gardenia honey and vanilla bean sauce!

Thank you Stacey for pairing Tanner and I together for your event, we absolutely loved working together and your invitation to just do our thing was genius! We both created, had so much fun, and were so flattered to be part of your family’s big night! Happy Birthday John B and boys!!!🥳

The July Mentone retreat is filling and we are honored to share a love of 🌳nature, healthy beautiful 👩🏻‍🌾food, ancient yoga practice, dharma talks, and incredible 🥁sound healing.

We are offering this retreat overlooking Desoto Falls in Mentone Alabama (40 minutes from Chattanooga) with a sensational morning at nearby Rolling Pasture Ranch, there we will enjoy yoga surrounded by rolling pastures of sheep, chickens and goats. I’m pairing mine with a corn tortilla, avocado, yellow tomato, serrano chili and fresh tender herbs… basil, mint, cilantro, chives.

A few years ago I thought to myself how cool it would be to work with retreats. To be amidst people seeking a depth to life, to understand themselves better and ultimately to contribute to the world in their destined way. I like to call that making the world spin better. 🌍

Well, that’s called an intention and when an intention is set with emotion, it often happens for you. 🍃
It did for me, I’d asked Robbie about doing a retreat together two years ago and we’ve been doing them ever since! And oh, the women I’ve met and places I’ve gone! ☺️ My role is to nurture 👩🏻‍🌾through food, and I use my voice to invite women to the table with beautiful healthy food and communal dining where there’s a sense of community and conversation. What a beautiful journey for me and last night was no exception. 🥒💞🍃

Last night was an evening mini retreat at Renee Armand’s Grace Ranch, a beautiful historic sprawling property in Leipers fork. Women gathered for a strawberry moon /summer solstice (this happens every 20 years or so) and we wrapped rice paper around mango, shrimp and avocado with fresh garden herbs, edible flowers and peanut sauce. Chat mahala popcorn and furikake cucumbers as snacks and lime kissed watermelon and strawberries with dark chocolate as a sweet. 🍉

Egyptian yoga, sound meditation and a spontaneous voice vibration session with Renee was liberating. Collecting 💦spring water and heading to the spring fed pond in the hot summer air for a 🌝moon bathing serenaded by bull frogs and a show of shooting stars and an absolutely incredible big red strawberry moon topped the evening. It was like a moment out of Brother where art thou… and all of a sudden I heard Renee start singing down to the river to pray…. come on sisters, let’s go down, down to the river to pray. 🎶
