This session was a little bittersweet for me, as it was my last family session I have booked in Virginia! I'll surely miss doing these Yorktown Beach sessions but I had so much fun with Kori and her son that I didn't even think about that! Kori wanted sunset at the beach and we couldn't have had a prettier evening for these pictures! And I love that the sky perfectly matched her outfit, too! It was a wonderful evening with this adorably fun family! Enjoy these sneak peeks!

The Heinz family was so much fun! I first met Darlene and Evan when I did his senior session so it was great to meet the rest of the family! Everyone was so joyful, even though Darlene warned me that to them, taking pictures would be like torture 😂 There was enough laughing going on between all of us, I don't even think they realized they were being tortured! 😉 Enjoy these sneak peeks!

Last weekend I headed to the mountains to my favorite city in Virginia to have the most fun session with the best group of ladies! These soon-to-be UVA grads made my job so easy, too! Not only are they are so beautiful but they have the most beautiful friendship with each other as well. There was so much laughing going on, my own cheeks were hurting from smiling along with them. I can't decide what my favorite part of our time together was, but being the only group to snag a picture with UVA's mascot CavMan as he walked by us was pretty awesome! Congratulations on your graduation, Alicia, Catherine, Brea and Sarah! Enjoy these sneak peeks!

HUGE thank you to my friend Savannah for allowing me to use her pony Pixie as a prop 🤪 My horse/unicorn loving three year old was so excited about this but her momma was even more so! 😍 Enjoy these sneak peeks of Amelia's unicorn experience!

Antonella's first birthday shoot was so much fun! We started with matching mommy and baby dresses, authentic from Ornela's home country of Colombia. Then some family shots and then it was cake time! It took Antonella a while to understand the assignment, but once she got a taste of her blueberry cake and the music started bumping, she was having herself a good ol' time! We were blessed with a super warm winter day too, so it made this at-home outdoor session all the better!

I love being able to be a part of something so special in someone's military career. Homecomings, advancement and retirement ceremonies are such a special and momentous occasion, it is such an honor for me to be asked to document this time for someone. It's even better when it's a friend! Congratulations to Chief Romero on your advancement! (which was about two months ago)

Happy First Day of Spring! It may not feel like it anywhere in the country right now, but if the calendar says it's Spring, I'm gonna raise a hallelujah! So, in observance of what should be a warmer day, here are some beautiful spring shots from the daffodil bloom last week! Fun fact: the town we live in, Gloucester, is the daffodil capital of the country! The bulbs were brought over with colonists and this area is now bursting with the pretty yellow and white flowers!

07/03/2024

I've been watching the daffodils at this field in Gloucester and they are just about to be in full bloom! I think after the next few days from the rain and warmer weather next week, they'll be perfect! So between March 13-23, if you want family pictures or spring pictures of your kiddos, let me know and we'll pick a date!

The Moran family wins the award for the quickest photo session I've ever done! If I remember correctly, it was barely 40 degrees this day and breezy, so we all wanted to be in and out of the cold as quickly as possible. Luckily, everyone was super photogenic and I didn't have to take a gazillion pictures, and I still got some gorgeous shots!

It made me so happy that we were able to squeeze in a family session for the Bakers while we were down for a visit back in December. It was a weird foggy, humid December day in the midst of rain, but the overcast sky and the ICW in the background gave the perfect backdrop for photos! I will always cherish my time spent with this sweet family that we're blessed to call friends. The images I get of them are always my favorite!

The Hudgins family traveled up to VA from SC to visit their oldest daughter who is living up here and decided to have family pictures done while they were all together! Judy told me they were bringing their dogs (fist pump number one!) and the first thing I noticed when I met them was they have a charcoal Lab, just like my Bear! (fist pump number two!!) So, already this family was perfect in my eyes, but also, how beautiful are they!? I couldn't have asked for a more perfect afternoon at this park for this family!

By the time this is posted, this handsome young man will have graduated from boot camp and should be a couple months in to his new career in the US Coast Guard! I did Riley's session as a mixed senior/photoshoot with his little sister and they were a blast! They seriously have the best brother/sister relationship!
I love doing senior sessions and getting to talk with kids about what they're into and what their future looks like to them. I'm always in awe at the ambitions these kids possess. And for Riley to say that he was excited to join our country's military with the Coast Guard made me feel so proud, and I'm not even his mom! It was such a gorgeous evening at the farm and pair that with two gorgeous kids; I was left with way too many perfect shots! Enjoy these sneak peeks!

‼️📣‼️ I'VE GOT BIG NEWS TO SHARE!
I hate to make this announcement, but our plan to stay in Virginia until 2025 has been cancelled. If there even was a plan. The one thing I've learned about life as a military spouse, is to always plan on your plans not happening. And so it goes; the Coast Guard is sending my family to Michigan this summer! So now it's time for y'all to make plans: to have your last photo session (😭) done with me! At this time we do not have a moving date, but I do know we need to be in Michigan by the end of July. That being said, until I do have a specific date, I will not be booking any sessions passed June 8. I know the majority of my families book sessions in the fall, but if your heart just breaks at the thought of finding a new photographer this year 😩, consider booking a spring or early summer session! My availability is limited, especially on weekends! I would love the opportunity to see everyone one last time!

The Hunt family *may* have been my favorite session of the day for my minis at Colonial Williamsburg. Not only are they all just gorgeous humans, but they brought the most gorgeous four-legged baby and my heart could not handle it! She was the most well-behaved puppy I have ever met! (besides my Bear, of course 🤪) Out of all the families that I've done pictures of with their fur babies, I'm pretty sure the Hunts are the first to take their pup off its leash for the pictures; but she was so well trained, she didn't move a muscle when she posed for pictures! They were such a dream family to take pictures of! Not to mention pros at pretending it was 65 degrees and not the actual 50 degrees that it was!

I love the Padula family! They are so cute and so sweet! And I love that I've been able to watch Ace and Sailor grow so much over the last few years! This is my third session with them and each time is so much fun and we get the best pictures! Sailor is a total momma's girl and you can tell she makes the rules in their house! Ace could only stand near her or momma when *she* allowed it 🤣

There's nothing more exciting than watching families grow before your eyes and as a photographer, that happens prettyyy frequently. But with me, because I tend to move every few years, the families that I get to see grow is pretty limited. So when Madeline reached out to book a session and told me their new *BABY* would be there, I was SO thrilled! I did Chris and Madeline's engagement session and their wedding back in 2022 and I was just so giddy to see them again just over a year later and meet their sweet baby boy Jonah. They are such a beautiful family!

It was so wonderful to see the Walker family again! I met them last year when they did their Christmas pictures with me when Nora was just a couple months old! She was just a chill little blob of a baby then and this year, still very chill, but was sitting up and standing on her own! Also, I couldn't believe that they even did these pictures on this date after I saw Andrea with an arm brace on; she had just had shoulder surgery! She took the brace off for the pictures so we could get some "normal" family pictures, but I was very impressed that she did it!

I think The Sassner family wins the award for longest consecutive client of mine. For 6 years straight they've booked their family Christmas session with me and it's been an honor to have them do that! Unfortunately, this year was probably my last session ever with them; David is due to retire from his career in the Coast Guard this summer! They plan to move back to FL after that, so I'll be sad when Christmas '24 rolls around and I can't count on them to book with me 😩 Just for fun, I added a photo of them from their very first session with me, which was in the gorgeous seaside town of Beaufort, NC, to see how much has changed over the years!

I was so excited to be asked to come back to my favorite property that I wish was my own! I'm only slightly jealous of the life that Konrad and Adalina get to live. They get to have the kind of 90s childhood I had but better AND in their literal backyard! ::sigh::
Anywhooo... it was no surprise that Brittany had the most dapper outfits picked out for the family and I just had to take advantage of that flowy, country-chic dress she had, so we did all the swirls and twirls during the session. It was a beautiful fall day and a super awesome time with this sweet family

I'll start with the Romero family who did their session with us! They are the reason we live where we live, they adopted our puppy Oakley (who's now named Cassie) and they live in our neighborhood, so they have become great friends of ours! We had a fun evening down at our dock taking each other's family pictures and enjoying a fire and s'mores on the water!

I love repeat clients and the Nichols family is no exception. I love doing their sessions and not just because their pictures always turn out so precious, but they are hands down the most fun family ever! They were the perfect end to my Christmas tree farm minis (can't post the others just yet). It was near 80 degrees this day for a high (maybe a chilly 74 by the time of their session) but the perfect fall sunset gave that Christmas glow and I am OBSESSED!

Three years ago I met the Repasi family for the first time when I did their Christmas session at a tree farm. They moved away the following year but have now moved back to Virginia and in that time they all look exactly the same; except Avery and Ansley each grew a foot taller! What a difference to photograph preteens to now real teenagers, and yet they're still as sweet and fun as last time!

I always say if you have a dog (or any pet) and you're on the fence about bringing them along to your session, my answer will ALWAYS be yes!! I love all animals! So far I've photographed dozens of doggies and a handful of horses. When Shaylyn asked if I'd be on board to letting them bring a couple chickens.... in Santa hats....(yes, let that sink in 🤣) I didn't even hesitate to say YES, PLEASE!! The Reedy family was all around a super fun and laid back family, and then add these hens with legit chicken Santa hats, and it was just the best Christmas session ever! Take a peek at their Country Christmas Chickens 😄🐔

Happy Friday! This week has flown by with all the editing I've been doing. I'm on family #4 of 9 just from this week! The Daniels were so sweet and their two girls Amelia and Jocelyn reminded me so much of myself and my older sister Brooke when we were younger (or, really, we still are that way when we get together). The way they had so much fun being silly with each other tells me they'll end up always being friends.

It was so great to see the Williams family again for their Christmas pictures. It's so crazy to think that just a few months ago I was taking newborn pictures of Iain, and here he is; sitting up on his own, standing while holding onto something with two teeth already and drooling up a storm with more teeth coming! Man, they grow so fast. And speaking of growing, it was so cute to see Jackson grow into his big brother role. I already got a peek at how much he loved his brother earlier this year, but at this session he was so engaging and happy to be with his little baby brother, I kept remarking that out of all the sessions I've done with the Williams, this one by far had the happiest and smiliest Jackson 😄

There's no better way to kick off Christmas minis than with a family in Christmas pjs! The Hudgins rocked their plaid getup and had me smiling from the moment they got out of their car! Chris's fuzzy socks just make it that much better!

If I had to choose one word to describe the Radeka family, it would probably be LOVE. They all live far apart, spread out between South Carolina up to the DC area so this session was done when they decided to spend a weekend together. And let me just say, it was so heart warming to see them together. There is so much love for one another in this family. Heather and Len, who have been married over 30 years are still affectionate with each other as if they've been married 30 days and Emily and Zach have an amazing brother-sister relationship. But nothing tops the love this family has for the first grand baby (who is not being shown on social media). This was just another session where we met as strangers and I left feeling like I was part of their family. Enjoy these sneak peeks of this wonderful family!

My Story

My name is Kirsten and I am currently living by the Crystal Coast of North Carolina with my husband and our sweet little boy Jack and spirited and loving charcoal Lab named Bear. (I say ‘currently living’ because due to my husband’s job, we move every few years!)

I love capturing life’s little moments by simply using natural light. I try to keep your session as fun and unique as possible because the best most genuine smiles happen when you’re having fun! I love letting my clients choose a location that has some sort of meaning to them. Your location can set the whole mood for our time together and can really help tell your story and the story of the photo session. I mainly shoot families and ALL of the milestones that come with that; engagements, weddings, maternity, newborn, fresh-48 (pictures in the hospital when baby is born!), first birthdays, any birthday for that matter, seniors, bo***ir and seasonal mini sessions! In addition I also love shooting small weddings!

Contact me today if you have any questions or would like to book a session!
